I ended up with the Toyo all-seasons, I forget what the other variant is, but comparable all-seasons. The long wheel base / center of mass being well behind the steering axle makes the driving feel pretty much unrivaled by anything that isnt a similar config, anything with a transversely...

    CX-90 Reviews are out

After owning many performance oriented cars (MS6/STi/GolfR/WRX/335xi), I honestly am happy with the power in the TS. In sport D mode its easily a lower/mid 6 second 0-60. Full manual mode sport m-drive, starting in 2nd and shifting at 5k I think it can get into the 5 second territory. The car...

    CX-90 Blind Spot Monitor Malfunction

Had the false positive trigger an emergency braking when backing out of a parking spot in a parking lot this weekend. Driver side was the "closer" corner to the row of cars behind me, absolutely no movement what so ever. I will say that the system did also work well with some people who walked...

    CX-90 Blind Spot Monitor Malfunction

My driver side malfunction / bsm false positive seems to be getting worse. When I first noticed it, it was coming and going, occasionally holding in the on/alert state. Now it seems that when it starts triggering it only holds for long periods of time. Thankfully it works fine over 50 mph, but...

To be honest, navigation with the dial is a lot easier. You have to lean forward to touch, I dont even need to look at the dials now that I am getting used to it.

One thing I will bring up about 0-60, is that starting in non-manual mode is always going to be less than ideal from a pure speed perspective. Using manual mode, you can start from a stop in 2nd gear. This provides two benefits, 1st being gear ratio. 1st is 5.26, 2nd is 3.3. The second benefit...

    CX-90 Blind Spot Monitor Malfunction

Currently I am just trying to get videos of it when it acts up, so I can easily show what is going on to the dealer when the time comes.

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Somebody in one of the other CX-90 forums got access to service manual documents, and came across this. According to this, the side radiator is getting called out as being a high power differentiator. Could have been on the right track after all? Intercooler and transmission cooling are a...

    CX-90 Blind Spot Monitor Malfunction

I too have noticed it seemed speed related. I share you sentiment of getting annoyed by alerts for left turns around town. So I used one of the Mazda App "Give us Feedback" prompts to dump my CX-90 thoughts. Ill be going in to service department to pick up an oil filter / crush washer as I...

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

I was worried about that, so likely going to need a custom one made if so desired.

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Since you have access to the underlying components, could you look at the rear diff and see if the older CX-9 LSD or something similar could be swapped in? Prior to buying not having a LSD in the rear was my biggest concern for low traction environments (snow etc), I am not a fan of...

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Turning off the auto-start-stop definitely improves some of the transient state cases, where bad timing plays a role. Pretty much any driving in 1st/2nd that is transient between pedals (braking -> coast -> accel) or (braking -> accel) at slow speeds seems to be where weirdness crops up.

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

If you get the chance to spend some time driving one, please let us know your feedback! It is very difficult to describe the clunky / harshness sometimes experienced. The other misgiving is odd kinds of hesitations (either mechanical, or a noticeable enough of an input delay between pedal input...

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Thanks for the info! Have you had a chance to drive a CX-90 yet (or CX-60 assuming its the same trans)?

Can you confirm if the transfer case is capable of being fully un-coupled / variably coupled? (Making the platform effectively RWD or variable torque split F:R)

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Well if you have any way of communicating feedback since you are in industry (longshot I know), I think there are still things that need to be ironed out with the controls surrounding this non-TC hybrid transmission setup. There are times where the NVH associated with the synchronizing of the...

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Thank you for the details, certainly explains the potential sources of drivers into the slow speed operation / harshness in up shifts / downshifts sometimes experienced. Probably explains the poor off-the-line performance seen in the CX-90/Mercedes/BMW video as well (Am thinking in terms of...

CX-90 Turbo S vs. Turbo Differences and drivetrain notes

Interesting, do you know / can you explain where the 48V electric motor sits in relation to all this? My original assumption was that the transmission was functionally a single clutch automated manual, but if there are multiple clutch packs in the transmission, that guess was wrong. Orig...
