How does the MS3 make 1600 PSI fuel pressure?

DI vehicles have two pumps. One is usually in the tank and the other is mechanical and at the engine. The reason there is a need for two pumps is that when the engine isn't spinning there is no way to pressurize the fuel system. It's actually sorta tricky at startup because it takes a few...

How does the MS3 make 1600 PSI fuel pressure?

High Pressure Pump The fuel pumps are actually mechanical, usually gear driven from the cam, or even direct from the crankshaft. It takes something like 2lb-ft to turn the pump, which if you do the math out, at speed, it's > 1.5kW, which would be over 100amps at 12VDC!!!

    Magnaflow Pictures and Sound

I recently purchased a Magnaflow direct bolt on kit for my Protege5. When I was looking to buy, I couldn't find many pictures or sound bytes out there, so I thought I'd put some up so others like me can see it before they buy. Excuse the water on the pictures, but I live in upstate and washed...

AEM ems for Mazda Protege 01+

Does anyone know the make and model of the connectors that would be needed to go from the stock mazda connector to the AEM Unit? I'm interested in maybe doing the wiring myself, since it's one of the things I do at my job (making custom connectors). Also, curious, if I get the connectors...

AEM ems for Mazda Protege 01+

How functional is the AEM unit from Wagner? Does it come with all necessary cables and adapters to hook it up? Also, what sort of map library is there out there for the AEM EMS and the protege?

AEM ems for Mazda Protege 01+

Is that unit standalone or are you running it in conjunction with your stock ECU? Where'd you get this kit?

AEM ems for Mazda Protege 01+

Usually the AEM kits run between $900 and $1500 for a standalone unit...you're telling me this will be non standalone and cost over 2k? Might just have to get some wiring diagrams and build my own...

AEM ems for Mazda Protege 01+

So what're we talking, around $1500 for the kit? I definitely want to swing with a standalone to run strong NA for a while and get my SC later. I've heard they've pulled 20+ horsies outta these vehicles on 87octane only changing the fuel maps, so I'm pretty psyched about the standalone...

just got in a small accident

I think that's right....so you're best option is to work the deal through the body shop. They'll likely send the check to the shop and you can have the shop order the parts you want.

What Do You Think Of My MP5?

I like the rear...where'd you get that rear bumper?

just got in a small accident

Ok, this is how you should work it. Talk to the body shop (usually insurance company reccomends a shop) and ask them to give a quote to your insurance company to get the car back to stock (OEM parts.) You should then be able to ask the insurance company to cut you a check for that amount to...

Big #s ! what engine management is to be used ?

To clarify about the haltech units. 1) You say they come with premapped ECU, the units are both standalones correct? The E6X replaces the entire protege ECU, thus when you say programmed ECU, you mean the unit comes preprogrammed right? 2)Is the program that comes with it going to be...

Will emanage adjust timing for N/A p5?

What EMS's are available for the protege? I've heard there's a plug and play AEM ECU, but are there others that will give control over timing, fuel maps, etc? Also, how much are they? I might be able to get a few fuel maps for the NA Protege, but any info on systems would be fantastic.
