anybody race a nissan spec v in here?

Thanks, that was pretty much the response I suspected I would get. When you have nothing to argue, just move to personal insults.

I still say that it is gonna be close at a 1/4 mile track with the MSP and Spec. Local autoX is going to see the MSP come out ahead for sure in the staock class.

"Why no limited slip with all that power, and doesn't the car just smoke the inside front tire? For the answer to the first question we consulted PVO engineer and longtime GRM bud Gary Johnson. To paraphrase, Garybasically told us tales of not being able to get the handling balance dialed in...

I am not saying that it makes all the difference, but you can not tell me that it doesn't matter quite a bit. Ask anyone who has spent a good chunk of time in autoX how much tires can make up. Have you looked at the suspension? The Neon suspension has always been awesome. I am not saying the...

That's nice for you, now keep in mind I don't really care if you think it is ugly, looks are a personal thing. The SRT4 has 205/50zr tires with a 220 treadwear rating. The MSP has 215/45zr with a 140 treadwear rating. If you put those same tires from the MSP on the SRT4 I would guarantee that...

I still say it is a drivers race, especially now that they changed the 03's gearing .

I would suspect that with some - camber and some grippy tires it would get pretty close. Also, maybe even 1" lower springs with a little higher rate or more progressive would do the trick as well.

I noticed too that a few Spec drivers have said with just an intake the car wakes up a lot at the higher revs, but exhaust hasn't seemed to make as large a difference. I would suspect that going too big with the piping would lose you a little torque so the "butt dyno" would register small gains.

As far as interior, I would say that the MP3, as I have not sat in a MSP, would "visually" be a little nicer than most in it's category. The pedals, shifter and aluminum trim make that happen. I wouldn't say that the Spec has a cheap interior or feel though.

OK, lets go with SCC's numbers and the fact that they got a beat up 02 Spec to test instead of a fresh new 03, which is rumoured to have many improvements overall. SpecV 154ftlbs / 146hp @ the wheels MSP 150ftlbs / 150hp @ the wheels Considering that I have seen some 03 Specs dyno over...

Nissan.ca, specv 175hp/180ftlbs / 2710lbs Mazda.ca, msp 170hp/160ftlbs / 2843lbs On paper it is easy to say that the spec comes out a bit ahead.

The old SER's had 140hp, maybe thats why so many of you, including the P5 are doing well. The SpecV has way more torque than the MSP and tons more than the MP3 or P5. I can see the MSP and SpecV being a drivers race but, on paper, the torque should give the SpecV a lead it should be able to keep.

VW has been doing that for years...... Big deal, for insurance purposes it isn't a bad idea.

    Tough Crowd Comparison test:

If the engineers and PVO guys were present for the test as stated and told them about how they tested it, I am more inclined to buy into it than not. They were also quoted by 2 mags as saying the numbers would be within 5% of tested. If all is true, DC gets some serious respect as far as I am...

    Tough Crowd Comparison test:

The SRT4 was dynoed by DC with a heat soaked intercooler (worst possible conditions) to come up with the 215 rating originally. Under normal conditions, even a hot day at the autoX the car should make over that. Also, a recent write up on a website (not sure which one) quoted DC saying the SRT...
