Nikon lenses are also more expensive. have you handled a D200 before? it is by far the most solid camerea I have picked up. (I havent used a 5D or 1D yet) the nikon ergonomics make a lot of sense as well....

400$? you're crazy man.... that rig has less than 100$ of material...and I work for a P. Eng and we have a shop downstairs ;) it would be easy peasy to get stuff welded at the cost of a lunch. the prefered method: suction cups

it is adjustable, but not very far. his full car pictures are taken with extreme wide angle. this will get you better results, but I hear it is not very stable.

you wont get any decent angles with that rig.

they are no neodymium. it a grab magnet from princess auto. maybe I will return the one i got and get those mounting ones. thanks!!!

so I picked up a 125lb magnet today...and I have to say it has about 20 lbs worth of pull on the most flat part on my undercarriage. the problem is in the magnet design. they are designed to be taken off an object easily by tilting the magnet to the side. straight pull its surprisngly strong...

the problem with under car mounts is in the tuner scene, its not always easy to put something under a car due to suspension changes. and as you say with suction cups, due to their nature you cant always find a good surface to put them on. my camera can weigh up to 5lbs. and bogen/manfrotto...

that capacity is UP TO 123lbs...and usually not side loading... I've been looking for a cheap way to build a rig as well, but there is no cheap way around it. especially if you want the entire car in the photo.
