Man, another project on the list! (cheers) Just ordered the parts. Hopefully, I'll have time to get it installed next week sometime.

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

Seems that it is normal with the Mazda system. Norsairius is right in that most of the power is sent to the front wheels first, and then only re-distributed once the system detects slip. I think this section of the above-linked article kind of says it all: "In normal operation, vehicles route...

Guide 2nd Generation CX-9: Reverse light bulb replacement/upgrade

I just did this mod myself today. Guide was spot on!

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

The wife and kids went to a party today, so I had more time to tweak some things. I have a trailer hitch and wiring installed, but left the trailer wire in the trunk. When I tow, I had to open the hatch and pull out the connector, lay it flat and the close the hatch over it. I decided I didn’t...

    2019 CX-5 getting 2.5 Turbo engine??

I wouldn't argue with that. Although the tires are still very new, with the majority of tread life left, they are very thin for their overall size and designed more for comfort than road grip. That being said, I'm sure the cx-5 would come with a similar setup.

    2019 CX-5 getting 2.5 Turbo engine??

My CX-9 will spin the wheels/torque steer under hard acceleration (for a second or two), and it's AWD and much heavier than my CX-5. So i'd imagine if the same powerplant in the same state of tune were dropped in the CX-5, it would do the same. It'll grip faster than a pure FWD, but mazda still...

Guide 2nd Generation CX-9: Dashcam installation

The video quality is actually pretty good for a cheap cam. Clean install! Although the 12v cigarette chord wouldn't play nice with my OCD. Oh, not sure about others but the attachments for parts 1-3 seem to be broken (at least from my computer).

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Also got a smoking deal at REI on the box. Was trying to decide between the Thule and the Yakima. They were pretty comparable but the Yakima was $20 cheaper AND had an additional 15% off on top of that. Ended up saving about $100, score!

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Finally got around to installing the OEM roof rack. For the record the stickers indicate a 290lb rating per pair. Next up is the roof box. I know, not the most exciting of add-ons but they are necessary.

2018 CX-9 GT wrapped in Avery Dennison Carmine Red Vinyl - Progress Journal

Mainly because her "new" Mazda is my old CX-5. I chose the color when I got it, then she decided she wanted it, so I paid it off and gave it to her and got myself the CX-9. So basically she's stuck with my color choices. (peep) It would make a nice birthday gift to have it wrapped "soul red" for...

2018 CX-9 GT wrapped in Avery Dennison Carmine Red Vinyl - Progress Journal

Wow, great work. Looks fantastic (I'm not a red guy, but my wife would LOVE it, she's always owned red cars before her current Mazda). I cannot fathom the time it took to complete the project. How many man hours do you think you have in it?

    Daytime running lights dim/flickering

Strange that the dealer didn't go to bat for you. My 2016 was under the time limit but over the mileage for the warranty. My dealer said this was such a common issue that they'd get it taken care of. I do know Mazda ended up covering it, but there never seemed to be an issue of "if" I'd be covered.

    Updating... a few questions.

The card should be in the car if you purchased the Navigation system. If you didn't purchase it, then yes, they leave it out. You can buy the card from the dealer or eBay I believe, but you cannot *initially* use just any SD card. I say initially because once you have an OEM card, you can back...

    Battery or Alternator

If you rarely use the car, get a trickle charger. It'll save you from some battery issues down the line. It won't do anything if you have a bad alternator though, so you should still get both the battery and alternator tested. I have motorcycles that sit for long periods between uses and a good...

    Sunroof shattered...options?

The glass did eventually break into small chunks (as safety glass should), It just took a while. I doubt Mazda (or any brand) would label their glass with a type that's incorrect, that could result in some serious fines? Either way, I guess we'll see how long this one lasts. (boom05) Also from...

    Rust

Sounds like you applied paint on top of the rust? Did you clean off the existing rust first? If not, then the rust will continue to spread underneath the paint you just put on.

    Sunroof shattered...options?

Yep, true BUT Safety glass can mean that the glass was laminated, which is why I'm saying it could be. There's no way to know for sure. Agreed, but there's the glass marking so not sure what to make of that.
