    2016 CX-9 Signature leaking coolant

I understand your disappointment. Even with this issue, Mazda is the #1 most reliable brand (Consumer Reports). Go figure.

    2016 CX-9 Signature leaking coolant

Transmission replaced too? Surprising. The 6-speed is known to be very reliable. Hope Mazda takes care of you. No extended warranty? 5K after standard powertrain. That would be tough to swallow if they don't cover it.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

What was your temporary vehicle situations? Did Mazda actually provide a loaner for 11 weeks since it's warranty work? You shouldn't be responsible for incurring rental costs.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I tend to do the same thing. The Highlander was in contention for me and I was on Toyota Nation and others and seeing a bunch of owners needing new transmissions on Highlanders less than 2 years old. Notice that very little of this info ever became widely known and Highlanders maintained their...

    Mazda6 Discontinued For 2022

If Mazda follows through with bringing a new sedan on the expected RWD inline 6 platform, it would ultimately be using the Kia Stinger recipe. Seems like it would sit at that price point. Have to wonder what kind of sales they'd be looking at. The Stinger has sold far less of course than the...

2nd Gen CX-9 High mileage club, how's it holding up?

Here's one for sale with 180,000 miles, looks new. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=546552470&zip=71111&makeCode1=MAZDA&modelCode1=CX-9&dealerId=68023

Turbocharger information that was a bit alarming...

They bury supposedly critical info in the manual that 95% of people don't read. Idling may have been common knowledge in sporty turbo cars of the '80's & '90's, but a large portion of the auto market is now turbo to decrease engine sizes. Who thinks crossover owners are cooling down their...

    Mazda6 Discontinued For 2022

The Mazda6, with it's 3rd new interior is superior to any Camry trim, not even close. It still looks and drives better too. Amazingly, more reliable. The only thing the Camry has is a bit more room but it far outsells it because people are sheep and buy what's always been the most popular. Any...

    Mazda6 Discontinued For 2022

Funny, the Mazda6 at 8 years old, sells 3 times as much as the MX-5 Miata. Yet you'll never see Mazda drop the Miata because it's the Miata. Just like the Ford Fusion sold far more than the Mustang but guess which one is still around. I get the reasons for this and it's more than just about...

    Mazda6 Discontinued For 2022

Most assumed this generation Mazda6 would be done this year or next with all rumors pointing to an immediate replacement. The known RWD platform and inline 6 was/is supposed to be the basis for the new sedan. What wasn't expected was to read a headline saying "Mazda6 to be discontinued"...

    2022 CX-9 EV?

A CX-9 EV is not even slightly on the radar at Mazda yet. In fact, it's going to an inline 6 for the next generation. Right now, like Toyota, they don't fully embrace the idea of full electrification. Japan believes in other solutions. They ultimately will probably be forced in that direction...

    2016 GT with 120k miles

Congrats. It's a lot of vehicle for $16K. A new Mitsubishi Mirage with a 78hp engine costs that much and is the worst car sold in the US.

    2016 GT with 120k miles

The KBB on this is $17,500-$18K. It was a $42K car 5 years ago and the model hasn't been redesigned (a redesign immediately makes models less desirable).

    2016 GT with 120k miles

At least you can be sure that this thing lived on the highway which is a plus. Not driving around the city and getting to 120K in 4-5 years. That price is very good even with the mileage. You won't find a 2nd gen for less, probably not even a base model unless it's beaten up.

Engine coolant leak 2016-2020 CX-9 Signature

There's also 2nd gen CX-9's with over 150,000 miles on them (have seen them listed for sale). Although I couldn't tell service history but pretty sure original engines. There's a '16 on Autotrader right now with 166,500 miles and looking clean.

Engine coolant leak 2016-2020 CX-9 Signature

There's 125,000 2016-2020 CX-9's on US roads. So far just a handful of these engine issues. Let's hope these examples are outliers as they seem to be. The 2.5T is also in a ton of 2018+ CX-5's and Mazda6's. And Mazda ranks #1 in reliability suggesting these are rare exceptions. Still...

    2021 CX-9 Signature 5000 mile impression & comparison with 2018 CX-9 Sig

Thanks for the comparison. As I also have an '18 Signature, it's nice to have an owners perspective of the differences. There's some changes I didn't realize happened. I was disappointed when Mazda dropped the auburn interior. Easily the best color IMO and really created a "signature" look for...

2013 good condition vs 2016 questionable condition

Wow, I've never seen so much wear on a leather steering wheel at this mileage. Guy had some rough hands! If you really want a 2nd gen CX-9, hopefully you can save a bit longer and buy a clean one.

10 foot ladder inside CX-9? Yes.

Definitely. What I did in this case was reinsert the front passenger headrest through the ladder holding it in place. 👍
