Mazda 5 - Rear Brake Pad Replacement

Next time, instead of opening a brake line, you can just loosen or remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. This lets air escape when fluid is pushed back into the reservoir. Mz5 is shorthand for Mazda 5, so same rear brakes. :p Lastly; As a working mom, good for you for tackling your...

    Upgrading brakes?

Upgrading rotor or caliper size is, in the vast majority of cases, unnecessary unless you take the vehicle to the track where the brakes are repeated applied hard from high speeds. That said, if you were to go with larger rotors or calipers, you would likely need to go with larger wheels. 16"...

Looking for shocks for a second gen. Maybe HD stock height springs?

For the rear springs; maybe a sport spring (which would have a higher spring rate) with some sort of spacer to offset the lower height? Not sure if such a spacer exists out there for us.

2009 Manual, 5th gear popping out

Since it makes that noise when you hold it in gear, I'm betting in worn shaft bearings, internal to the transmission. http://www.wcengineering.com/articles/popout.html

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Don't they give you a recommended OCI based on your sample and mileage that was on it? Once the warranty is up, I'd like to go as long as they say the oil is good for. What have you learned regarding that?

    DDM Tuning HID kit

I have a 35W 3500K set in projector fogs on my '97 Golf. Quite happy. I bought the cheap kit years ago and earlier this year finally got the car's fog housings modified to fit the HID bulbs (the back part of them is really long). Found out one of the ballasts (black slim one) had gone bad...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

My kinda guy. I just bought our CPO 2014 two weeks ago so I have a while until I'll need to do an oil change. Couple questions; I, too, am planning onto sticking to the 7,500-mile intervals, but is it "or 6 months" per Mazda? For us, 6 months will come before the 7500 miles and I don't want...

Converting front parking/turn signals to LED's

Less current draw, from a burned out bulb or LED bulb, will cause it to flash faster. On my VW's, it was just a simple relay that I replaced with a fixed-interval one to get around this. I just learned that the BCM (body control module) controls the flashers on these Mazdas. So, like you...

    Homelink / Compass Mirror Compatability 2009 / 2015

I'm noticing a few different p/n's for units with auto-dimming, compass, and homelink; 0000-8C-H73 0000-8C-H73 0000-8C-R01A 0000-8C-Z08B ... and probably more if I keep looking. They look identical and I'm sure they all just need +12v and ground to work, but I want to make sure I get one that...

    Homelink / Compass Mirror Compatability 2009 / 2015

My wife wants this. Couple questions; Is there a connector waiting at the bottom of a driver a-pillar? I'm familiar with splicing but would rather not in a confined space and on this new of a car. Is $208 USD a good price for the OEM unit? Has anyone had good luck with an aftermarket unit?

    New to the Mazda crowd

I never heard of the FSD's until you mentioned it. Reading about them, they seem kind of magical and long-overdue. A bit pricey, though! I've definitely leaning more towards 17's as well and probably sticking to stock springs. I have a Jetta with 270k on it so 166k barely seems middle-aged...

    New to the Mazda crowd

Great info, Ruby! Cmprehensive, well-written and it all makes sense. Let me comment on your points, piecemeal... While that module is a good plug-and-play solution, I've believe that an effective DRL would be a bright, white light projecting forward--Something that would be most noticeable to...

    Aftermarket LED DRL's ('12-'15)

What a noob I am. This thread already exists... https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123831335-LED-Daytime-Running-Lights I didn't see an option to delete so, sorry for the redundant thread!

    European Mazda5 side mirrors?

I come from the VW world and euro mirror glass, which is convex on the outer portion just like you described, is a popular mod. It makes a whole lot of sense and I'm not sure why it hasn't caught on here in the states. Maybe archaic DOT laws don't allow them..? Whatever the case, someone...

    Aftermarket LED DRL's ('12-'15)

Has anyone given these a try? http://www.ebay.com/itm/121124087408 I think they look very OEM-ish and I like the auto bright/dim/off and after-run capabilities...

Static review: White wall & lux comparison: LED, H11 LL, H11+100, H9

Love this thread! Thanks, sac02, for and accurate testing and comprehensive info. I would still like to see an HID kit compared to the halogens. I had a DDM 3500k kit in some projector fogs on my Golf and am very satisfied. Being that the 5 will be the wife/kids daily driver and the low...

    New to the Mazda crowd

Thanks, Hank. We got her! A 2014 Sport A/T in deep crystal blue on black. (Image) Paid $12k plus tax, license, etc (13.3k total) from a Mazda dealer about an hour away. Since it's from a Mazda dealer, it's a CPO and we get 12k miles of comprehensive warranty and, of course, the drivetrain...

    New to the Mazda crowd

Hi, everyone. My wife and I just sold our house and currently buying another one together with my father and are keping some of the cash for future house upgrades and a Mazda 5! We have a 4-year old and plan on having another once we're settled into the new place and feel the 5 is the perfect...
