    Gas mileage

I just took a 500 mile road trip, about 75% highway, 25% city and got 27-28 mpg. My speeds on the highway varied from 65-90 averaging about 77 or so. My aruond town driving was quite spritied since I had just rolled over 1000 miles and wanted to excersize my car. Before 1000 I hadn't taken it...

    buying a mazdaspeed

You can ship the car for $700, so $16000 + 700 in TX is $16700. I can have my dealer call you and use a shipping service. I've sold cars on Ebay and used different car shipping services. So tell them you're willing to pay $16750 to save the hassel. Remember to add $500 for 2003.5...

    Unorthodox Boost Guage Installations

Pirana's is cool. Girth, that link you provided is cool but I don't want to move my radio. I wouldn't mind just having the lower part and having two guages.

    buying a mazdaspeed

2003 = 16000, 2003.5 = 16500 That's what they're going for at all the dealers in Austin, TX. I've heard this is the lowest in teh country. You shouldn't pay over $17500 NO MATTER WHAT.

    Unorthodox Boost Guage Installations

I want to install a boost guage, and perhaps an EGT on my MSP. I don't want to use a guage pod on the pillar. I want to install them somewhere else. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions for other locations. Please post pictures or comments about installation locations. Does anyone have...

What do you tell people you drive?

I say I drive a Mazdaspeed, if they ask I say it's a Protege that comes out of a special dept of Mazda and gets the title Mazdaspeed. They ask, oh waht's done to it I say, it's turbocharged, has a racing suspension, aero-dynamics, blah blah

    possible warranty issues

I'm in pretty good with my dealer, I give them excellent reviews and they know I drive a bit out of my way to go to them. Plus they're newer and don't have as much business. Anyways, I plan on having them do my services, but I'm going to ask them about the mods. I'd probably have them install...

New Owner soon (also GTI vs MSP mini review)

Welcome, I've driven quite a few A4's and Jetta's and have never been a fan of VW/Audi's shifter feel. It seems it's either a love hate thing. I think it's notchy as hell. The MSP is one of the better trannies I've driven.

Rattle in back (NOT THE CLUNK, DIFFERENT)

Thanks, I'll ask about that. Hey so do you like your MSP or SRT-4 better?

Rattle in back (NOT THE CLUNK, DIFFERENT)

I have this horrible rattle in the back. It sounds like it's coming from the rear deck lid stereo area. I took it into the dealer because it is incredible annoying since my car is less than 2 weeks old. He informed me it was the plastic cap on my third brake light. I can't imagine that would...

    Petition to Mazdaspeed

A K&N drop in box filter, and exhaust system, etc shouldn't void the warranty. If I were to mod my car, I would simply choose mods that are easy to install and don't require any alteration or modication to the vehicle. For instance, I would pick an intake that didn't require cutting, drilling...

    Warming Up

I have generally just waited until the water temp guage is reading normal, but on 99.99% of occassions I don't get on it till 5-10 minutes after that, and that's if I get on it at all, I drive pretty civily, and see no reason to go over 4k rpm.

    Warming Up

Like the other guy said, the real warmup process has more to do with warming and circulating the oil. Oil lubes much better at temperature.

Replaced Stock Air Filter with K&N and WOW

Are you talking the drop-in the box solution or the 3" cone? How did it affect sound. I rode in t3ase's car with just the 3" cone and it sounded GREAT. In fact the engine seemed quieter and the turbo louder, but not loud in a bad or ricey way. Unfortunately, his car didn't like the hot air...

    Smokie got me

Except for the Phantom, which contains rudimentary radar-detection circuitry, each is essentially an empty box with a 12-volt power cord, a cheap cast-plastic waveguide assembly, one or two front-mounted LEDs, a basic power-supply circuit and a button or two. Press the button and an LED lights...
