High Mileage CX-5s - report in

The high mileage trans fluid is a double edged sword. Once over 100k miles on the original trans fluid, pretty much all the additive packaging in the fluid is depleted. So the trans will begin to form varnish on parts like the valve body, hard parts, clutch plates, accumulator pistons, etc...

    Mass Airflow Sensors - MPG

The Honda CRV mass airflow sensor swap does seem to get around 5 mpg more. I personally know a CRV owner who saw the MPG increase on 2 different CRVs. I don't think it's a gimmick. Just not sure how the sensor swap works and why doesn't Honda use it to get better MPG from the factory?

    Mass Airflow Sensors - MPG

Read on the Honda CRV forums that some people swap out their Mass Airflow Sensors on 2017+ CRV's and gain like 3-5 mpg. This is even on new vehicles, so it's not that the MAS is dirty. Is this possible on CX5's ? If not, why not?

    Guide ATF Drain/Fill

Rock Auto sells the transmission filter from Back/Arnley and Vaico. Supposedly both good brands with Vaico/Vierol being a German company. Anyone use those brand trans filters?

    PE01-14-302A-MV (Value Product) Oil Filter?

Just got back from Mazda dealer. All they have and install is the PE01-14-302A-MV oil filter. Filter came sealed in plastic and appears to be good quality. Dealer said that it's Mazda approved and installed on all applicable Mazda's without issues.

Cracked Cylinder Head 2019 CX-5 GT

Back in 2017, when the 2018's were coming out. I read that Mazda was introducing a very complicated Cylinder Deactivation system that was involving the valvetrain & oil pressure to control valves from opening and closing. It was complicated and new and instead of buying a 2018, I opted for a new...

Mazda Wix Filter #57002 - Issues!

Taking it back tomorrow. I think it's an issue with the latest production run from Wix. Time will tell. Might grab OEM if available at dealer, otherwise maybe the Mobil1 M1-108A

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Yes it is. I paid $26.5k (plus TTL) for a 2017 CX-5 Touring AWD back in 2017. I went in to the Mazda dealer to get some oil and they had a 2023 CX-50 and it was listed for $55k. Wow!

    Cracked cylinder head (2018 CX-5)

Good points. Timeline makes sense. When CD came out & I read about the complexities of it, I wanted nothing to do with it as the tech was too new and too complicated. Hence why I bought a 2017 instead of the 2018. Mazda didn't want ant bad PR so it kept it quiet.

Mazda Wix Filter #57002 - Issues!

It appears others are having the same issues and they are all recent. So it appears it was the latest production run. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/wix/filters/engine-oil-filter/80c2d8dbb188/wix-oil-filter/wix0/57002?msclkid=4359d21fcf0811ecb5e699ad6b38f246 Read the reviews

    Cracked cylinder head (2018 CX-5)

Per that TSB on the other page. It appears the cylinder head problem began in 2018+ with the new cylinder deactivation system Mazda introduced in 2018.

Mazda Wix Filter #57002 - Issues!

Got a Wix #57002 oil filter for my 2017 CX-5. Filter has a production date of March 23, 2022 (Made in Mexico). There is an issue with these filters. The white exterior paint is flaking off and it made its way into the filter. I tried blowing it out with shop air and there still was flakes...

    Mazda CX-5 OEM Parts

OEM washers are only $1 If you go on Amazon and read the reviews on the aftermarket washers. People have experienced losing oil and major leaks. For me, is it worth saving $1.00 but risking have a $5,000 engine have failure due to oil leakage from a drain plug gasket? Absolutely not.

    Mazda CX-5 OEM Parts

Thanks for the info! I plan on ordering it directly with Mazda and getting OEM. I read too many bad reviews on Amazon that the replacement parts don't fit correctly and cause leaks.

    Mazda CX-5 OEM Parts

I have a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and looking to get OEM washers for the engine oil, transmission and differentials. I came up with # 9956-41-800 (Drain Plug Washer $2.25) # 9956-41-400 (Drain Plug Washer $1.00) What is the difference between the 2 washers? Does the differential drain plugs use the...

Here's a good Mazda parts department for factory wheels

I am going to get a full sized spare wheel as the donut is pretty pathetic and unsafe to use, especially on the front tires and highway speeds. Did some research and there are less expensive Chinese knock-offs than OEM Mazda but I decided that Bam Wholesale had the best pricing for a 17" OEM...

CX-5 Turbo Engines - Are They Forged Internals?

On the new CX-5 turbo gas engines. Is the bottom end forged? I assume it has forged rods but is the crank forged or cast/nodular? How about the pistons?
