    Spied: 2017 Mazda CX-9

here you go guys, I'm 100% positive that Mazda rep has no idea what he's talking about, there is NO WAY the current floor is at the same height as the new tunnel topmost surface, absolutely not, I didn't realize how bad it was until I took picture this afternoon, this is new CX-9 with...

    Spied: 2017 Mazda CX-9

I call BS on that Mazda rep saying the current flat floor level is flush with the new CX-9 tunnel top surface, and that Mazda dropped the 2nd row outboard floors for comfort. ABSOLUTELY NOT, no way. Only way I believe it is when I go physically and measure with a tape measure. The new...

2007~2015 Changing CX-9 transfer case gear oil (photos)

you're welcome Mikenem, glad I can help. yep, your plug looked like it was definitely cleaned when they inspected it last week, mine looked A LOT worse when I first took mine off for the very time at 38,000 miles (it had a good chunk of thick goop and sludge on it). Wow only 150 mL oil...

    Transmission fluid type

It's not listed in Mazda's schedule, but I have transmission flushed every 30K since new, PTU oil changed every 6000 miles, it may be overkill but I hit 100,000 miles a couple of days ago with no failures. Don't believe in mfg's designation for lifetime anything, they're trying to sell cars...

2007~2015 Changing CX-9 transfer case gear oil (photos)

If you just want to just look at the PTU plug, do it when the car is cold, and I guarantee 100% no PTU oil will come out. The oil plug location is the fill line of the oil capacity; so cold oil should be right below the plug hole. I'm almost certain at 47,000 miles you will see sludge gunk on...

2007~2015 Changing CX-9 transfer case gear oil (photos)

long term reliability update: reached 100,000 miles with no issues !!! hey guys, glad to report I have hit 100,000 miles with no issues !! still with the original transfer case that came with the car. I am 100% absolutely positive CX-9 transfer case failures are due to lack of oil...

hahaha, no CD player, I asked the Mazda rep the same question and she smiled and looked at me as if I was kidding. Anyway, I double checked, there's no hidden CD slots in the front armrest or behind the dash..... there were still a lot of new 2016/2017 models that still have CD players even...

no problem, you're welcome, here's the rest.... mirror now mounted on door instead of window, no more pedestrian blind spots at crosswalks strut tower brace (green arrows) added for handling sport mode ? no idea what this does ? glovebox is smaller than the current one, can fit very...

no more standing in rain while filling up :)

yeah, when I visit other states there is a slot and clip to hold the gas handle open until auto shutoff but I guess it must be a NY thing, regulations prohibits them, no slots and clip here in NY....... have to stand there and hold it by hand.

no more standing in rain while filling up :)

for those who live in self-serve gas states with no gas handle clips that holds the fill up nozzle open NY state is one of those states that removes those clip so drivers have to stand out in the rain or snow while filling up big rain storm this morning and had to fill up can a gas station...

I want to soundproof CX 9

Agreed, more cost effective to fix the driver's door/window seals first than pulling off interior panels, all that money put into interior panels won't help unless you fix the window seal problem first see here, this really worked for me and got rid of the whistling/wind tunnel noise...

    Rattling noise from under vehicle

do a easy and quick check of the AWD propeller shaft mount, see video below, if it's worn it would create the rattling sound, and if the rubber is worn and rubbing against the metal bracket, it will cause the burning smell inside the passenger cabin.

2007~2015 Changing CX-9 transfer case gear oil (photos)

Batmancx, your logic makes sense, I agree that a clogged vent tube is not a good thing, especially after seeing the video below (2:25 time mark) of the clogged vent tube: but I submit leaking from the vent valve of an old neglected transfer case is a good thing...... Allow me to explain...

    Spied: 2017 Mazda CX-9

Hi Brucie, not 100% sure, I didn't ask the rep, but all three models (1 up on stage and 2 for people to sit in) that Mazda had at the show have the 2nd row hump, it's safe to assume and a high probability it will be in production models.

    Spied: 2017 Mazda CX-9

no problem, here's some more misc pics, my biggest gripe with the non-signature model is the leather feels cheap like it won't last long and stitching is sloppy and wrinkled especially for a $41K car you should expect more....hopefully this is just prototypes and production will be cleaner...
