Consumer Reports Talking Cars about Mazda (incl. CX-5)

Yeah, I saw that one too, I thought it was overall more positive than negative. Especially they praised Mazda for quality/reliability and they dinged Ford as being NOT so reliable(OUCH) for Ford. I was a little surprised by that, I though Ford was perceived as being more reliable than that??

First Oil Change: Mazda says 7,500 miles, dealer says 4,000

I was also told that with my 2009 Honda Civic, but, I was not told this with my 2015 CX-5.

Automakers to gearheads: Stop repairing cars

Most software you buy, if you read the fine print, state exactly that: you don't own the software, you are buying a license to use it. Something physical, like a car, I would think would be more difficult to make that claim. But, if some Lobby pays off the right people, anything is possible...

    87, 89 or 91 octane?

My understanding is, since it's designed for 87, running 91 doesn't buy you anything.

    CX-5 potential buyer -questions

    1) Yes 2) Not bad 3) I haven't noticed being blown around too badly. 4) dunno, mine is FWD. 5) The infotainment sucks on the pre-2016, I assume the 2016 and after is better?? Other than that, reliability has been fine so far, but, I still have less than 9,000 miles so far.

    Still getting good reviews

I don't think the current CX-9 is skyactiveized yet, I would think once they apply skyactive to CX-9, it'll get as great a reviews as the CX-5 is enjoying.

    I need ur help!!

At best, it may come with a warranty from the tire manufacturer, but, it's between you and Yokohama(or, whomever), the dealer will stay out of it.

    DIY Horn Upgrade

I think I saw some people have used these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002MA03S/?tag=m20b7-20 Can the stock power wire and fuse handle both of these??

    DIY Horn Upgrade

I would do it, because I really really really really hate the stock horn, but, I don't like the idea of drilling out rivets and such. :-/ Wish it was easier to get in there to swap out the original and add the 2nd horn.

First Oil Change: Mazda says 7,500 miles, dealer says 4,000

I start thinking about it at 5,000 miles since my last oil change, and make sure I get it done before 7,500 miles. My dealer's offered me two free oil changes so far, I drive less than normal miles, so, these oil changes are a bit early. But, if the dealer is offering them for free, I don't...

    Floor Mats for 2016

I have the 3D Maxpiders in my 2015 CX-5 Touring, they looked about as bad as the ones in the video after this Winter. I just gave my car it's first post-Winter bath, and used a little tire cleaner and soft tire brush on the Maxpiders, and they came out like new.

    2016 CX-5 Oil Change Frequency

I start thinking about it at 5,000 miles, and make sure I get it done before 7,500 miles, since it takes Full-Syn, that long should be fine.

    I Hate My CX-5

I agree from most of the reviews I've read that I'd probably be unhappy with the 2.0L. So, I made sure I went with the 2.5L(AT), and the power is very acceptable to me.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Gave it a good post winter bath, used the tire & wheel cleaner on the 3DMaxPider floor mats, seemed to clean them up nicely.

    Low fuel light chime

My 2 cents: gasoline draws moisture, and the more empty your tank, the more likely you are to have bad effects of more moisture in your tank. So, as a rule of thumb, I try to never go with less than half a tank of gas. Just one of my pet-peeves...

Oil usage amounts. Post them here.

My first car, a 72 Ford Maveric, paid $360 in 82 for it. Pretty much when I filled the gas tank, I also would add a quart of oil. It was one of those 2-cycle Ford's :-) But, I'd think these new, high compression, are so tight they would use almost no oil between changes...

    electric parking brake

If your regular brakes fail, you can gently pull on the emergency brake to bring yourself to a safe stop. Not sure how you do that with an electric parking brake that is either all on, or all off??
