Mazda Connect (Nav) update for Feb 2021

Probably not. They still list construction lower speed limit traveling through downtown Springfield which has been finished for over a year now. They also don’t list a street we are building a home on in South Carolina. There are countless omissions if you look hard enough.

Recommendation for choosing used CX-5 year and model

Yup, had both our cars flashed. No issues before and no issues after. Have the 2017’s ever had a TSB? Sure they have. Does that make them a model year to avoid? Absolutely not.

Recommendation for choosing used CX-5 year and model

Do not listen to those who tell you to avoid the 2018 and newer Cx5’s. They are giving you POOR AND MISLEADING ADVICE. Period. In fact the CX5 reliability has been outstanding through all the Gen2 model years. Just look around......do you see thread after thread about blown engines? Nope. This...

Car & Driver SUV rankings for 2021

Once Mazda offered the Turbo option, it really put the CX5 model front and center. It took an already great compact SUV and gave it that extra needed to place as a 10 best. Arguably it should have been a 10 best this entire 2nd Generation, C&D as with other publications always wanted a 2nd...

New 2021 CX-5 Signature, 6,600 miles left before first service?

My 2019 when set to flexible has weird calculations for the countdown until service. The remaining mileage would take leaps.....like 7500 to 6xxxx then to 5200, it was not a linear countdown. For that reason, I now prefer using a fixed 7500 during summer and 6500 during winter for my oil change...

Recommendation for choosing used CX-5 year and model

There are no statistics that place the 2017 as any more or less reliable then the 2018+’s. We have a 2018 and 2019 in our family, 70k combined miles and nothing other then oil changes/filters and tire rotations. Rock solid reliability.

Sirius XM issues on a 2019 CX-5 GT

That’s an old bulletin, the fix was to upgrade to latest infotainment firmware version. My 2019 has not had the issues with XM since.

    Cylinder Deactivation Update

Think we can move on about CD as an anxiety trigger. Since the recall, reports of engine trouble have not been materializing. This engine is used in CX-30’s, Mazda 3’s, Mazda 6’s and increased failure rate just isn’t being reported.

2020 Signature: How long for your seat warmer to get warm?

My wife’s 2018 Touring with faux suede seating heats up MUCH faster then my 2019 GT with leather seating. The leather doesn’t seem to transmit the heat as easily.

How to turn off repeated "winter storm warning" notices?

There is an option in the XM travelink section to turn OFF weather notices. Terrible implementation, I’ve had to turn mine off due to the annoying way they are presented.

Trim or option regrets after purchasing

My wife has a 2018 Touring, I have a 2019 GT. Neither has the extra PP. Honestly I think the sweet spot is a Touring w/PP for an all round budget CX5. I prefer the seats in her Touring compared to the leather in higher trims. Also if your into heated heats, those Touring seats get MUCH warmer...

    Firmware 70.00.367A

Just to update my personal experience with this firmware, no XM glitches since update a couple months ago. I also just went to an Iphone 7 and much prefer the Apple Carplay vs Android Auto I used previously. Everything working well on this firmware with Apple Carplay, think I have ditched...

Is the Signature the best all-around car for under $33,000?

Disagree, why is it ok to negotiate off MSRP and count that but dealer fee add-on should be left out cause it might be negotiated? Mazda offers its standard rebates that people can quality for, dealers then can take some more off the price to make things more attractive. But as previously...

New infotainment system 2021 Mazda CX-5

Should be on all trims of CX5. Even the CX30 gets the newer version of Mazda Connect on ALL trims. For those GTR and Sig buyers it certainly helps put those trims well beyond the GT/Touring/Sport.

Advice for new 2018 GT Owner

I saved 5-6k purchasing an 8 month old former rental 2019 GT. Serviced by the Mazda Dealer routinely (twice) before I purchased it with 13k miles. I take the trade off of saving thousands vs paying new. After owning a few "new" cars in my life I've realized the depreciation hit wasnt worth the...

    Paddle shifters on 2020 GT's & up

Nice observation, I rarely used the paddles on a former 2016 Mazda 6 but there are times when a little extra control over the shifting (highway uphill onramp) would be nice on my 2019 CX5 GT. Your experience is a perfect example of the nice thing about the paddle shifters and keeping hands on...

$800 dealer fee!!! At least you got the healthcare rebate to wipe that away.
