Initually, the server got almost 500 bounces a day from 50-100 users...

This is the same thing that happened years ago when Facebook changed their layout. I don't use it so I didn't give a s***, but even I knew that people were pissed... Really pissed. The navigation changed (and keeps changing) and people were freaking out as they "couldn't get anything done"...
