    Turkey gobble? Compression surge?

Can I make a suggestion? Somebody please try re-routing all of your vacuum lines to where nothing is t'd off of the line going from your intake manifold to your diverter valve. Anything bleeding off of the line will cause your valve to not function properly during lift off and flutter. The...

My car goals have finally been met!!!!

You are talking about my most beloved car here. MY first race car ever built was my 2001 WS6 with a 402 stroker LS6 motor with a 300 shot. This car made 826rwhp and ran a 9.7. When it only had an exhaust, intake, and tune it ran a 12.1. With minor bolt ons I literally put bus lengths on my...

    Boost Leaks

As stated this is a brand new ATP unit. Vacuum shouldn't have anything to do with the operation of your wastegate since it requires only boost to function properly. The flapper felt fine when the wastegate was being replaced so I know that isn't stuck open. Tonight I took off the egr valve and...

My car goals have finally been met!!!!

Race a six speed LSX car and take a vid then come back and show us. That is a low 13 second car stock. Props if this is true and I am sure the driver mod is what took home the win.

    Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

But this is what I am arguing though, that is not low cost. You guys are getting ripped off. A custom manifold will run you $700. I posted a link to a guy who is extremely talented and would love to do the job.

    Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

How can you think is a properly designed manifold? I have said all I have to say as far as the design theory behind it. If this was still the 90's that manifold would be the pinnacle of car technology but the times have changed and so has our technology. Any properly designed tubular manifold is...

    Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

I would definitely get into contact with him and see if you guys can fab a turbokit with an evo turbo that he most likely has laying around. I can help you source all of the parts you will need also. I know this isn't your ordinary turbo upgrade for your car but I really don't see anything else...

    BAD waterspots on roof

Water etchings aren't enough to justify a paint job. Depending on how deep they are will vary on the product needed for removal. Compounding and polishing are impossible by hand and hate when companies advertise that method on the product. The first thing to try when you get water spots is...

    Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

I completely understand you guys didn't have the money to lay out for something a little more mod friendly and for some these are a big step over other vehicles. I am talking about the few individuals like Nocturnalspeed who are wanting to shell out tons of money to continue even further when...

They are more common than a Mazdaspeed I will give you that but you will get more out of it than you will this car. I don't want to seem so arrogant but reading around seeing all the headaches you guys are getting from these things and the money invested in order to make very minimal power just...

That manifold doesn't have runners, well it does they are just an inch long. After that the exhaust flow smacks into a nice wall at a 90 degree angle and converging into to large ports. These are very old school and for the price you are all getting ripped off. I read through his site and...

    Boost Leaks

Normally if the turbo manifold is cracked I will have a bad exhaust leak and a bad idle. The car is idling great and is tick free which will rule that out. No guess the parts that are faulty as I basically went over the entire car and found the major issues. I am just curious who has seen these...

    Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

Yes your other mods are very tasteful compared to that manifold. With what we know now about flow characteristics I can't see a company still making log style manifolds. Not only is the gasket mismatched but the immediate 90 degree bend on each port has to kill flow. The entire piece just looks...

what is the correct way to do all the plumbing with a FMIC and intake

Opps I meant hot pipe, that was a very late post.

Am I the only one disgusted by the turbo flange on that Steedspeed manifold? That is a complete mismatch from what I see in the pics and will surely cause turbulence and a lack of spool. Hate to talk bad about somebody's very taste full project but the fact that they get away with that is beyond me.

    Boost Leaks

No I drive an Evo but am using a lot of the same methods on my brothers 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege to bring life back to his car. The flapper is working as I checked that when I replaced the wastegate with an ATP unit. As stated the turbo blows air for sure and should easily see wastegate pressure.

    Turbo lag what causes them?

You solved your own dilemma but don't realize it. A huge crack in your manifold causes a major exhaust leak and will create your lag. Also doing a boost leak test will help ensure the system is leak free.

what is the correct way to do all the plumbing with a FMIC and intake

The routing you have at the moment is proper. The blow-off valve pre-maf will allow you to vent to atmosphere with your valve without giving you stalling issues. One thing I never see anyone do with these cars is install a nipple on the cold pipe for your wastegate and boost controller source...
