    Thoughts about wheel upgrades

Looks cool but goofy LOL. I love the look of 20's on the CX5, but anything bigger is only for gangstas... and I think that's not me LOL. I almost pulled the trigger on a set of 20's, but couldn't do it. Pretty sure I'll do 18's because I bought it because of the mpg and I plan to USE it like...

    New Member-and question

Interesting. Well, I want to know the actual capacity and range, because it makes no sense stopping for gas if I can go another 50 or 100 miles.... especially when on a road trip, late at night, etc. I will take a gas can and find out how far I can go until empty, unless there is some truth to...

Thinking of getting a CX5, but a bit apprehensive...

I get how some might be concerned about the whole new skyactiv stuff. It's new and different. Mazda isn't the only one with brand new engine/trans coming out right now. Every vehicle I recently shopped has a either a brand new engine or trans or both. Focus, Impreza, Veloster, Escape, Jetta...

    Octane Rating

I haven't given the octane thing too much thought, but... Not all fuels are the same for everyone, at least in the US. Different regions use different blends, some using no ethanol, some 10-15%. In my area, 87/89 has no ethanol. 91 has 10% ethanol and is actually $.10-15 cheaper than "regular"...

Clicking sound from front end when driving over small bumps?

Hope they come up with a simple explanation. I doubt it's anything to worry about though, as far as safety, etc. All the issues with the 5's suspension is annoying, but as far as I know... that's it. Just irritating noises from things rubbing that were not supposed to, bushings that squeak like...

    Still Waiting...

Local dealer is saying 12 weeks to get one. Not sure if that was the same for the ones ordered a month or two ago, or if the delays are getting longer now.

Stereo Wiring Diagram/Pin Outs and Stereo Removal Instructions for the CX-5

I have non-bose 6 speaker setup. Are the front speakers component with the woofer in the door and tweeter on the dash? Or is it wired so that you can have full range speakers in both locations (front door + dash)? Looking at the diagram, seems that it's a component... which leaves me wondering...

Introduction... long time 2006 Mazda5 owner

Will do. Thanks. Um, haven't changed the cabin filter yet lol. Plan for now: I'm taking a road trip in the CX5 next week... Iowa to Florida for a week or so. When I get back, I'm going to pick up a few things from Rockauto (cheap struts, axles, sway bushings, etc) and take it to a mechanic...

What car did you trade in for your CX-5?

I didn't trade in anything, but the car that's getting replaced is my 2006 Mazda5. For now, I'm keeping it and will burn some miles with both. The 5 has it's issues, but do like driving it a lot. Will take some time to get used to the CX5. Maybe I need some new rims and tires to make it seem as...

    Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

Speedo on my CX5 is about 1 mph off @55-60 and maybe 1.5 mph off @70 so that's not too bad. My issue is that I don't like how difficult it is to actually see/read the speedometer... at least compared to my Mazda5. CX5 has a funky fat needle and the 160mph dial is too cramped.... adds up to...

Introduction... long time 2006 Mazda5 owner

This car is kinda like my old 1.8L Mazda-powered Escort GT 5 speed that ran great until it was wrecked recently with 230,000 miles on it. Lots of highway miles, but ran it plenty hard at times too. Escort had one set of brakes/shocks and wires/plugs and that was about it. Did not have all the...

Introduction... long time 2006 Mazda5 owner

Try to make this short. Seems like a great forum. I'm sure I've checked it out a time or two but had not registered until now. Bought my 2006 Touring AT new, to be my commuter/work vehicle that I drive and work out of all day, every day. It's been a fantastic vehicle, if it were not for the...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Typical day today, road warrior hitting local auto dealerships, working out of the back of my 5 doing windshield and headlight repair. Trying to decide if I'm going to do a round of suspension work and another set of tires, or just ride this out a while longer and sell. Could use some tires...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

2006 AT with 209,000 miles I run 150-200 miles/day during the work week, about 120 of that is commuting 60-70mph and the rest is various urban driving. I tend to be aggressive around town and use the auto shift a lot, I but keep the cruise set at posted speeds on the highways. My mpg ave is...

Clicking sound from front end when driving over small bumps?

I did notice a concerning noise on the highway on my first day with my CX5. There is one spot with a series of bumps or dips... where my 5 bounced/vibrated the front tires for a couple of seconds. This only happened after the struts and whole front end were aging.... started well after 100k...

Clicking sound from front end when driving over small bumps?

Will be following threads like this. I hope the CX-5 doesn't turn out to be another suspension disaster like the 5. If these have all the knocking, clanking, squeaking, and rattling as my 2006 5, then I will be looking to dump mine sooner than later. I mostly love my Mazda5, but the suspension...

    Thoughts about wheel upgrades

I'm trying to decide between 18" and 20". I typically put on a lot of miles, so I'm buying tires pretty much annually. I want the 20s, cause no doubt they would look nice. But 18s will be lighter, cheaper, and a 55 series 18 surely would be a smoother ride than a 45 series 20. Plus, the 18"...

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Local dealer is not discounting the CX-5 currently and I don't expect many dealers would right now. My dealer doesn't hit you with outrageous fees however, which is how others have thought they were getting a big discount.... only to have that amount added back to the deal in the form of...
