    New and first Mazda owner

Sorry to hear about your Versa. j/k lol I've surfed Mazda forums now and then since buying a my 06 Mazda5. I've always been impressed. At least with the mazda3 crowd, there is a ton of good info shared. I'm not a tuner, but I like to see what they're doing with their cars.... good and bad...

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Not all dealers are on the Costco plan, but it's a good way to buy a CX5 if your dealer is on that list. Keep in mind that there isn't a lot of markup from invoice to msrp, but right now anyway, $300 over invoice is a good deal on a CX5.

    Mazda CX-5 test drive

I'm glad to hear you liked the Escape. I've heard very good things about it, but have not driven one yet... just sat in one for a minute. After the CX5, the Escape would be the next choice. I hope Ford sells them by the truckload.... it's good for my business lol.

picked up ours- here's my impression.

I also wanted to add my own wheel/tire package and speakers instead of spending $$$$ for Mazda to do it for me in the GT. I also wanted a winter tire package, so I have to buy a second set of wheels in one way or another. Now I can use the factory 17s as the winter set. One tech feature I would...

    CX-5 or the Outlander Sport?

You should go get your CRV and box of tissues to go with your new delivery experience. You never know, they might leave fingerprints on the glass, plastic on the seats, and not give you a full tank of fuel. What a a POS that car would be!

    Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

The booming with the rear windows rolled down is common to many vehicles... as mentioned, don't do that. lol Cracking a front window is usually enough to cure the sonic boom-boom

    Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

What I've noticed isn't that bad. On mine, there is a slight vibration in the mirror. It only bothered me when I was trying to figure out what model of car was a quarter mile behind me. It's there, but it's only a "problem" if you have OCD. But if they have a fix for it, that's cool too. Maybe...

Awesome, lol. Mine was caymen green and was still going strong at 225,000 miles when it was wrecked recently by the kid I sold it to. Could not kill those things, and I tried ha ha. We should call them cockroaches.

    CX-5 or the Outlander Sport?

I hope I didn't offend anyone too much. I was still on my first cup of coffee so maybe was cranky? LOL I suspect nearly everything on Earth can be irritating in some way, if you want it to be. I think it's better to focus on the more fundamental things of a vehicle, and the overall daily...

My wife loves our CX5 also... more than I do for sure lol. It's better that way if you share it. :) I also had my first "Mazda" by way of the good ole GT. Mine was a 93 5 speed and was a fantastic car. That might be the only car I never ever regretting buying, even for a second.

For you guys in areas where the cheapest gas is 87, it's an absolute no brainer to use 87. When the 87 costs more than 89/91, then you have to figure out which gives the better value in cost per mile. I think the bigger issue might be the differences in quality of fuel from one area (or...

Transmission: Manual vs. Auto with Manual Mode

I tried to convince myself I wanted a MT, but in a test drive I found that for me, there is so much shifting required with the cx5 that it's not fun. If I was buying the diesel it would be a different deal, or if I was buying a fun weekend car, etc and not a daily driver/work vehicle. The AT...

Installed TomTom vs. $150 Garmin w/ lifetime maps

I would think the theft problems are not what they used to be. GPS units used to be pretty expensive just a few years ago, but that's not the case now. Most consumer units are under $200 retail, some are under $100.... and they are common as peanut butter. If they are still a hot theft item, I...

Any product necessary for interior plastic/rubber care?

I use 303 Protectant. It's not a greasy glossy mess like a lot of other stuff and doesn't have any negatives I know of. It's a high quality uv protectant that can be used on about any kind of plastic or rubber.... good for anything exposed to the sun. It's especially good for tires on something...

    CX-5 or the Outlander Sport?

Going to be blunt here. I have 20 years dealing with car dealers and sometimes their customers, and get to see good/bad on both sides, so this kinda stuck a nerve. Yes, the dealers are guilty of some evil, blah blah. But in my experience, when there is some after the sale issue, it's usually the...

I tried a tank of premium from Costco when we were in Florida last week. Can't say I noticed any performance boost and it didn't get us better mileage either. I didn't get great mpg in Florida no matter what we put in it, but the premium may have been the worst for mpg. One unexpected thing I...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

on topic: couple weeks ago, I switched up gas again. Sometimes I get better mileage on 87 instead of our local ethanol blend 89-91. (87 costs more) After averaging 26mpg four tanks in a row... slightly less than I had been getting, I decided to try some 87 since a local Pilot truck stop had it...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

Yes... original transmission still in the car. Only work done to my 5 has been standard maintenance items as things wear out... tires, brakes, shocks, spark plugs, battery, etc. It has not "broken down" or needed to be in the shop for anything else. I went past 100k on the original fluid before...

A Heads-Up Concerning the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

One tire lower than the others is likely the reason the light comes on. Glad the TPMS system is there, and it worked for us. I had the light come on last week during our 3500 mile trip, somewhere north of Jacksonville. We pulled off the interstate and checked tires. Three were @35 and one...

I just ran a tank of 89 in my 5 and got the best mileage I've ever had. Off topic, but just had to mention it. 30mpg for the tank 392 miles @13gal. (EPA rated 21/26) Is anyone else considering that ethanol blends generally yield lower mpg? I know it's not going to be the same for all vehicles...
