Anyone coming from a CR-V? How do you think road noise and ride compare?

I don't like the front of the cx5 either. Everything else looks great though, especially in better trim, with a fat tire package like Mazda brings to the auto shows. When decked out like that, the ugly front is a lot more invisible.

    18s on a CX-5

btw, I did post a couple odd pics in the "show me your wheels" thread, to show the tires I ended up with, and the offset/tire bulge. Almost an exact copy of LtJohnny, just a different line of Nittos. I found out the "Crosstek CUV" is sold only through certain stores... BigO, NTW. They have...

    18s on a CX-5

I don't doubt what the Mazda policy is... the dealer may be telling the truth. Or they might be trying to make a buck on the side. Either way... they know it's BS in this situation. Then again, could be they're just dumb. lol

    18s on a CX-5

There is a small difference in diameters between the 17 and 19s (28.6" vs 28.8-9") but it's not enough to justify a computer calibration. Speedometer difference is less than 1 mph at highway speeds. From the factory, my speedo is off almost 2mph btw, with the tires at 38-39psi. Adjusting air...

    CX-5 Fuel economy

It's not sales crap, and the facts back it up. Check of fuelly.com shows 2013 cx5 with 200+ cars and 1+million miles tracked = 28.2 average mpg. That's above the EPA estimate. I get higher than advertised MPG, easily. Even driving it hard, I don't see how it could get less than epa ratings in...

    18s on a CX-5

Totally agree that Mazda screwed up the stock offset... which kinda looks like a 60's vwbug. Having said that, the 255/55 on 8"-40mm may be a bit much for a stock setup. :) Split the difference would be about right. I wish General made more sizes in the Gmax line. They have a 235/55 but at...

    18s on a CX-5

I have the M52's on mine now also, just installed yesterday. Need to get pics off my camera.... First impressions are mixed. They look mean with 255s for sure. It especially looks good from the back. Handling feels very good of course with the extra meat. But the ride is more harsh on...

    300 miles and battery died

Dome lights are a common culprit... if you manually "click" them on, they stay on. Also, the 12v plug in the armrest is always powered, so if you have a common dc/ac inverter plugged in for example, it can drain the battery in 2-3 days. Or might just be a defective battery?

    What MPG are you getting???

It is strange. I've had good mpgs in the mountains sometimes, including the cx5 last summer in the smokies. But sometimes I've also had poor mileage also. Don't have an explanation. On a really flat stretch of road like a river valley... the current mpg will often read about 40, but it may be...

    What MPG are you getting???

Level ground would make a difference too for me.... no such thing in my area, as we have rolling hills everywhere! Those #'s sound right on to me, out on the flats. 55-60 on a flat run with no wind should do 40mpg. I'm curious about how the manual does at higher speeds vs the auto. 70mph+ it...

    What MPG are you getting???

Now that we are off the winter fuel, I'm back to 30-32mpg at the pump on my 2013 2.0 w/17s. Most days I'm about 80/20 hwy/city overall, and the highway is about equal parts 70mph and 55-60mph. That's a lot different than always doing 75-80 like it is some places. Wind is the biggest factor for...

    What MPG are you getting???

LOL, that's pretty common. A lot of people out there must get really bad mpgs. I don't drive like a granny or anything, and I like to let the engine breath once in a while. But with the cost of fuel, choice of driving style is no joke. I wonder if some of these guys even have a clue what they...

    18s on a CX-5

Well, I almost ordered Motegi SP10 in hyper black, but had some concerns about the quality vs. Enkei. Then almost ordered Enkei Raijin hyper silver, because I like them. :) But the M52 are cheaper, a little more unusual design, and have and extra 1/4" offset.... so I now have a set of M52s on...

    18s on a CX-5

Yeah I think the stock setup should have been more flush with the fender. Tire width Mazda chose was probably for mpg concerns, but I don't expect much of a hit just by a little wider tire, that's actually a lighter weight package. The M52s are pretty sweet.

    18s on a CX-5

I've been set on 18's for a while, but waiting for winter to end..... Sounds like I will end up with something very similar to LtJohnny. I'm glad you showed pics of the 255 because I had been looking at 245 but the sizing isn't really right and I'm finding more/cheaper options with 255 anyway...

    Ethanol free gas

I don't think the higher octane is a good choice. If there is any increase in mpg, it probably won't be enough to offset the increased cost. For me, the lower octane 87 no-ethanol blend is the better choice. Some places it's cheaper than the "mid grade" 89 ethanol, and some places it's actually...

    Anyone wear out stock tires?

Little over 20K on mine and they aren't even close to worn out. I haven't checked them, but they are looking good. Side note... I have just recently noticed some wear on the inside edge of the rears, but I'm happy to report they still ride smooth. Unlike my mazda5, which started showing ill...
