    oil problems

The 929 one i always get is from the dealer and I have been using the same filter type for over 10 years. I started using it on my old 1990 Protege before I got this one and It has been working nothing short of great. Been extending my length of time on the oil too. And when i replaced my valve...

    oil problems

I would put the plugs back in and crank over the engine without the fuel pump on as i said in my post above so the compression in the cylinder will force some of the seafoam in the cracks and clean better. i wouldn't worry about the excess seafoam as it will shoot out through the exhaust valves...

    oil problems

You don't think that doing it this way will cause uneven soaking? I mean some pistons are up and some are down. I was thinking that when I do mine next time I do an oil change I will disconnect the fuel pump and start the engine to have it use up all the fuel in the line and then crank over the...

    oil problems

I'm not worried about adding it to the fuel as I been adding the Chevron Techron stuff once every few years and most recent this past winter so I don't think I will get much stuff loosen up but I was thinking of doing the crankcase and pouring some amounts through the spark plug holes and...

    oil problems

I may do the Seafoam stuff myself next time I change my oil. I do have slow acceleration and a misfire what it seems sometimes and every few months a CEL for evap system comes on but I clear it and the car is good again for a few months. AT about 141k miles I think it may help more than hurt.

    oil problems

You should buy a bigger oil filter like I do and I change my oil at 7k miles. The one I buy is for 1990 Mazda 929. It's half longer than stock Protege one. I tried Lucas, the one in that 32 oz bottle with the pointy tip. I used it as directed in the fuel tank as they claim increase in mpg. My...

    oil problems

So I'm assuming that by M1 you mean mobil 1 and they have high milage synthetic? I didnt know that they make a high milage synthetic oil. I been alternating between 5w30 and 0w30 mobil 1 and luckily I don't yet have a problem with excessive oil usage. so maybe I will try the high milage version...

    oil problems

I just thought of something when you mentioned rings. I had a old 1991 protege with over 250K miles on it and every time I started the car after it been sitting for a while there was a puff of bluish smoke out of the tail pipe. Have someone start your car one day after it been sitting for a...

    Please read, intake manifold recall!!

I did take mine apart twice and it was a bit easier the second time around. There really isnt much to it but it is very time consuming as other things need to be removed so you can get better access to the mounting points. I know I had to remove my battery and intake hose from the throttle body...

can someone help me read a caliper (thickness gauge)

If these EBC rotors didn't fill up with rust in the holes and slots then they would probably still be ok. But because of all the rust my pads wear very fast and I get vibrations so thats why I will never get slotted/dimpled rotors from EBC. Maybe in the future I will try Powerslot again as those...

can someone help me read a caliper (thickness gauge)

I just ran down to measure and here is the new rotor thickness. As I measured this time I noticed that each half dial o-100 is 1/10 of an inch. Myabe that makes sense. So by reading the measurement below it would be .950 of an inch? if that makes sense then that converts to 24.13mm. I think...

can someone help me read a caliper (thickness gauge)

Thanks but something is wrong here. either my measurements or the calculations are not right. My rotors are totally dead and I already replaced them. Look here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123831113-My-experience-with-EBC-Sport-slotted-dimpled-rotors I was actually thinking I...

can someone help me read a caliper (thickness gauge)

This caliper apparently measures in imperial (inches) and I have 3 pictures of the measurements that I need deciphered LOL. My friend let me borrow this to measure my old rotors and this is what I got. The way I had to do this is that I had to add something (harddrive magnets) to each side of...

What have you done to your P5 today?

Did you fix your rust spot that all proteges get by the passenger side engine mount?

What have you done to your P5 today?

Greased up my rusted ass hood release mechanism as the hood would not want to close unless I fiddle with the part that has the small spring below the large spring. After a bit of grease it opened and closed 3 times in a row. LOL. Next to the word rust in the encyclopedia should be a picture of a...
