It’s that time again need new all season tires

2014 CX-5 Touring with 225/65R17 sizing. Well last summer was the last of my General Altimax RT43's. As such I am now in need of new all season tires so I can take off my winter tires. I mostly liked the Altimax tires, but not entirely. The tradeoff when I got them way back when was that they...

High Mileage CX-5 Owners Strut Replacement?

Last summer needed to do front struts, front lower control arms, and front sway bar links. I replaced with OEM Mazda parts I ordered online (reused current springs). So far been very happy with performance that was restored.

    Higher Mileage CX-5s

About to hit 145k on my 2014. Far below some on here, but just reporting in that just about 12 years in (bought it April 20, 2013), still going strong. Needed front suspension work last year (both LCA's, struts, sway bar links) in terms of major work. Otherwise still doing normal maintenance. I...

    Spark Plugs: OEM vs Aftermarket

Sorry to thread necro, but when I last put in spark plugs and got scared into buying the OEM Mazda branded ones, let me tell you....they were NGK ILKAR7L11's with a Mazda logo printed on them. They didn't even bother to hide the NGK brand and model number. So as long as sourcing them from...

Vacation trip to Colorado (winter tires?)

Do have to say, snow has been kinda light so far this winter in Denver.

Rockauto Deal on Powerstop rotors and pads

Nice deal. Yeah always my rears. I've replaced them twice now. Fronts were good all the way until a year and a half ago when I replaced all 4 (pads and rotors).

    Getting close for new tires

Forgot which part of Denver you said, but avoid Discount on Wads and Coal Mine. They have now broken two of my studs. I switched over to the one further north on Wads by the Sam's Club and they have been much better.

    Getting close for new tires

Huh, first time I heard someone say they were quiet. Good to know!

    Getting close for new tires

Oh I definitely bought the General's because they were cheap, $110/each back then. I mostly liked them as well, but have had a couple of complaints, mainly they were really noisy on 225 when they were new for some reason (tread pattern)...it quieted out later, but was like really bad on certain...

1st to 2nd Gen CX-5 Front control arm upgrade

Doh! Wish I found this thread back in July when I ordered new from LCAs for my 2014 which had horribly cracked bushings. Will keep this in mind if I ever need to swap them again.

    Getting close for new tires

I am in Denver as well and honestly I seasonally switch between dedicated winter tires and all-seasons. I don't like compromised driving in the snow, and so to me it's worth it. Yes it's true that between snows we have periods of clear and sometimes even warmer weather. So this is why I don't...

How sealed is the transmission? 2020 CX-5

Ask Mazda what "lifetime" means and they will tell you nothing but "lifetime of the transmission" which isn't helpful at all. I asked them years ago and was like ok, how many miles? How many years? Nothing. "Lifetime" is a vague term that means different things to different people and when a...

2013~2016 Knock noise from CX-5 front

Oh then maybe I didn't do that. I'll have to do that soon and recheck my torque. Really sorry to hear still having that issue.

2013~2016 Knock noise from CX-5 front

Oh ok. That's what I did. Was just confused by the comment of making sure it had load on it.

2013~2016 Knock noise from CX-5 front

How does one do that and still get access to all the bolts needed. Ramps? But can you still get to where you need to with the tires on? Making me think I should re-check mine.

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

More in the stability when going over bumps was the biggest thing I noticed - for the struts. As for the lower control arm bushings and end links - much more stability when turning and such and eliminated noise. With the old arms that had torn bushings and end links with damaged bushings, the...

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

Of course I had an alignment done afterwards. It's actually noted in this thread already if you had bothered to read 4 posts above.

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

AWD for mine. Already fixed. Replaced lower control arms in the front due to torn bushings. Went ahead and and replaced the end links as well. While I was at it, replaced the struts too. Problem solved.

What are your favorite aspects of your CX-5?

This and it's just genuinely an enjoyable, engaging vehicle to drive...for it's vehicle class. It's got some competition now in the crossover space these days, but back in 2013 when I bought mine, the rest all drove like a boat, or a granny car.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

One of my license plate bulbs burned out so replaced them tonight with some LED 2825 bulbs.
