Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

msrp on these new is pretty up there. Even cpo isn’t as cheap as I’d like but that’s because the new “age of the suv”. My cousin bought a cpo ‘18 s90 sedan (57k msrp) with 20k miles for $30k a few months ago: a comparable msrp/year/mileage xc90 would run over $40k. So if you don’t have to have...

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

yup...planning on air suspension bc of the 10 yr/unlimited mile cpo warranty extension, which weirdly covers air suspension but not regular shocks. And the air suspension has a much nicer ride as well as height adjustability

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

Went and test drove a cx9 signature, and though it drove quite nice, the seats felt about the same as our cx5. Then drove a couple xc90’s and think mind is made up. Going to hang on the the cx5 until the right cpo Volvo turns up (‘17-18 t6 awd inscription with air suspension).

    Deactivate airbags?

Air bags are only redundant if you in a caged car with proper harnesses and a helmet.

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

Sat in a gtR a few months ago during a service, and they felt slightly better but not enough to warrant an expensive swap. The more I think about it, the seats are still bad as a driver but tolerable. The only time the seats really bother me is as a front seat passenger.

    Deactivate airbags?

To be fair, I have had one instance where I have had to deactivate the curtain airbags on my ctsv wagon by pulling the fuse. The ctsv wagon, sedan, and camaro have had several instances of a curtain airbag deploying during autocross and at track sessions. Something to do with quick changes in...

    Deactivate airbags?

Usually can pull airbag fuses...but why?

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

I’m only in the car when the family travels together, which isn’t super often but often enough to matter. Already have factory Recaros in my cars and about to put an aftermarket Recaro in my work truck, but can’t bring myself to disable safety features (airbag) in our family vehicle by swapping...

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

With the pandemic, we don’t take many super long trips but I find myself uncomfortable after about an hour. It’s not that the seats “hurt” or anything...just that I have trouble finding a position in which I don’t feel the need to shift my weight constantly. The cx5 is my wife’s car and the...

Love the CX-5, hate the seats...Any way to make them better?

Giving some serious thought to selling the wife’s ‘19 cx5 touring for only one reason...the seats. Other than a sunroof that randomly exploded (and was covered by Mazda), we haven’t had a single problem in 16 months/37k miles. It gets good mileage, is reasonably fun to drive, and has low...

    Exploding sunroof...wtf?!

Glad to hear they’re covering it. It looks like your moonroof may have exploded outward like ours did, though plenty of glass fell inside. It was the pic that showed the outward explosion that got Mazda to cover it in our case (and a fantastic service advisor). Hard to tell on my phone, but...

Dangerous cylinder deactivation trouble on 2018 CX-5 and Mazda6 models

Was concerned about the CD at first, but now with over 30k miles on our ‘19 (had update done around 5k), not longer worried about it. And would any day take cylinder deactivation over the incredibly-annoying stop/start that most vehicles seem to come with now.

    fake sg1?

Bought mine off amazon. I see no reason why it would be counterfeit but suppose anything is possible.

Possibly a paddle shift swap into Gen 2 CX-5

They were offered in Colorado/canyons in the newest body for a couple years, but only in extended cab/2wd/4 cylinder trim. I have to drive a truck for work and have never been able to enjoy driving an automatic. My old truck is the very last of the manual half-tons sold stateside...2008 Ram...

Sorry, but I couldn't pull the trigger (sad-ish)

Seats are junk in our otherwise excellent ‘19 touring. I don’t find them to be “painful”, but definitely far less comfortable than pretty much every other vehicle that I’ve owned. Now approaching 30k miles and they aren’t any better.

    LOL @ Rav4

From the cx30 forum... “There is an interesting story behind this recall. There are two PCM (powertrain control module) suppliers contracted by Mazda for their engines, and for whatever reason one of them did not apply the last finalized production software update for vehicles with cylinder...

Possibly a paddle shift swap into Gen 2 CX-5

A few years ago I got to drive an Audi R8 and Ferrari 458 back to back in Las Vegas (around a track). The Audi was a nice car but I still found myself irritated at the steering wheel paddles because I couldn’t always find them in turns. The 458 with fixed paddles was an absolutely joy and the...

Possibly a paddle shift swap into Gen 2 CX-5
