    CX-9 Mysterious Noise...Already replaced parts...Help!

Buy a mechanic's stethoscope. Very carefully touch it to stationary parts while the engine is running to listen for noise at the connected moving part. Also, with the engine off, touch parts hunting for one that is unusually warm.

Tire Size Recommendation for 2016 CX-9?

There are approximately a hundred tire makes/models available of the correct size. (Maybe only 50 or 60.) If Kumho doesn't have your size, why not look elsewhere? By the way, in the tirerack customer rating of that category of tire in our 20" size, the Crugen HP71 was their #7...

    Color of Fresh Brake Fluid?

Excess heat will damage the brake fluid as well as the pads, rotors, and rubber parts. One must use engine braking on long downhill grades to avoid overheating the brakes. Once your brakes overheat, you got nothing.

    Tire Valve Stem Rot\Cracking issue (2016 CX-9)

Find a better tire shop that supplies better valve stems. Or get metal with their rubber gasket. By the box of 100, valve stems cost from $.30 to $.49. Perhaps that shop got a box of very old valve stems at a price they couldn't (but should have) refuse.

    Color of Fresh Brake Fluid?

https://knowhow.napaonline.com/check-brake-fluid-theres-problem/ --quote-- New brake fluid should be clear, and light amber in color. If a quick visual inspection reveals dark, rusty or even inky fluid, it is time for a change. One characteristic of brake fluid is that it attracts and absorbs...

Guide: 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transfer Case + Rear Differential Fluid Drain and Fill

If necessary a socket can be ground down so it has less length, just enough to engage the hex head, and you have more clearance.

    Cracked Cylinder Head (2018 CX-9)

This is just nuts. This guy knows nothing except how to fleece customers. The lower engine, the short block, is not the problem. The problem is the old design cylinder heads that cannot handle the weight of the turbocharger and exhaust manifold. The symptom of the problem is the cracked head...

2016~2023: CX-9 Adjustable rear camber arms?

Look at the rear suspension knuckle. Is there a bolt that runs longitudinally that, if removed, would let the hub camber change? If so, there might be a crank bolt listed for some other car, likely the front end, that may fit and do the job. It'll take some detective work. And, there may be...

    New battery at 45,000 miles? 2020 CX-9

Corrosion at a battery post indicates acid leaking past the seal in the case around the post. You can clean it, put on one of those colored felt corrosion reducing circular protectors, spray with a corrosion reducing product for battery posts. Keep it clean. You do not want the corrosion to...

    2007~2015: CX-9 AC squealing noise

What car? On the cars with hydraulic power steering a squeal when turning means a worn belt or also a worn pulley on the power steering pump.

    CX-9 Headlight Adjustment

Park a few feet away from a blank wall, closed garage door, etc., ignition on, headlights on. Raise the hood. Above each headlight, in the painted steel section, is a hole about the size of a dime. Look into the hole with a flashlight and you'll see a little odd gear thing. Stick a standard...

CX-9 Dies when AC is turned on...Any ideas?

Which year CX9? Cars have a mechanism to give additional gas when idling with the added load of the AC running in order to maintain a constant idle speed. Find yours. It might be due for cleaning or fixing or replacing.

2016~2023: CX-9 41K spark plug change, found NGK plugs in the wild

I put in new plugs at 40k and noticed slightly peppier performance. I track the mpg imprecisely on the display, usually 24-26. Your 19-20 mpg is either a bad calculation or something wrong with that car.

    Spare Tire PSI

Just a reminder...check the air in your spare. 60 psi. Yep, mine was low. If the compact spare tire has low air pressure it'll flex more than designed when running. That added flex will get the tire heated more than designed. That added heat will cause the tire to fail early. You'll need...

Guide: 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transfer Case + Rear Differential Fluid Drain and Fill

Using the torque wrench to loosen the drain plugs?...may be OK, but I'd rather not. I don't know where one would get a torque wrench recalibrated, and I really don't want to damage mine. The 'sludge' he finds on the drain plug magnet is bits of steel and iron, and a small amount is normal. On...

Valvoline's "Restore & Protect" syn oil cleans engines

Carbon in the piston ring grooves can be a problem; rings need to be free moving* to be able to seal against the cylinder walls and the bottom of the ring grooves. Carbon build up on shafts can accelerate wear on seals. I don't know if the extremely fine soot from direct gasoline injection...

Know anyone who uses oil additives? See this...

Here is another video from Lake Speed Jr., the YouTube tribologist (certified lubrication expert), on what aftermarket oil additives actually do inside an engine (spoiler alert...it ain't good; some is pretty bad). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAGT5inQScE Off the shelf oil additives above...
