Replace rear brake pads and Rotors @40,000 Miles?

63k miles on my 16.5 GT. Took it to Brakes Plus for an alignment and had them do a brake check while it was there. They said rears were 65% and fronts were near 100%! I do coast LOTS to hypermile, and downshift on all grades, but I’m very pleased with the secondary effects of limited brake wear.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

There is often great variation in sales taxes at the substate level. For example, I paid 7.5% on my new Ioniq 5. Someone living a mile away from me might pay 4.5% at the same dealer if they live in an unincorporated area (no city tax of 3%.) I agree with Hal2 that purchase price before TT&L...

    Thinking about 2022 CX-5 Turbo

Gotta agree with all points you raised. We’ll be keeping our CX-5 for road trips (especially winter ones where batteries underperform) and snow days with the Blizzaks. Hopefully the already-passed infrastructure bill will improve the number of charging stations faster than EV growth. Ioniq 5...

    Thinking about 2022 CX-5 Turbo

Good luck on getting a PHEV. Almost all Japanese and Korean models will be extremely scarce all year. Many models have their entire 2022 production sold out (RAV4 prime, Santa Fe PHEV.) I’ve given up on a PHEV, which my wife would prefer. Suitable incoming Ioniq 5 LTD AWD’s became unexpectedly...

2013 2.2 AWD NAV Sport - Electronics meltdown. SCBS / Key System / Locking / Dash

Could the battery wires be bad? How stiff are they? Had to replace them on another car to resolve strange electrical issues.

2022 CX-5: No Parchment with Turbo spec but 6 more HP?

Yea, lack of a rear wiper/washer is a drawback. In the Denver desertish climate less so than more humid areas. I plan on keeping a bucket with washer fluid and a squeegee in the garage. The 6.1” clearance is a bit low, but we plan upon using the CX-5 with Blizzak DM-V2’s for most snow duty and...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Thanks for explaining. While this wouldn’t bother me, I understand why you are disappointed, perhaps p*ssed and angry. As for checking the temperature, I always do so anyway. It’s not difficult and is important to situational awareness IMHO.

2022 CX-5: No Parchment with Turbo spec but 6 more HP?

When I noticed this, I took the CX-5 off my list. I require a light colored interior, beige or light gray. While I enjoy my 2.5 NA, I would have got the Turbo in a heartbeat had it been available 5+ years ago. I did put a deposit on my next ride - a 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD. Expected delivery...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Sorry, I just don’t get why someone would WANT or need to floor their vehicle in such cold temperatures. I take off quite nicely from stop lights with the gas at 3/4 throttle. When I reach speed in my NA 2.5 and look back, 95% of other cars leading in adjacent lanes are 100 yards behind. The...

Has anyone had their seat foam altered?

To 2016.5. Are the bucket seats different between 16 & 16.5? I have back issues and find the 16.5 seats comfortable for long trips. 6’2” and very large lol.

Cellular 3G Networks shutting down. Mazda vehicles seriously affected

Better than paying the maintenance costs post-warranty. I myself would never lease, but I’ve resisted the urge to go German

Cellular 3G Networks shutting down. Mazda vehicles seriously affected

If you must drive a German car, lease it for the length of the warranty and turn it in when it runs out.

    Whirring Sound

Could this be the dreaded “high pitch mosquito sound”? Suggest you turn up the radio and chill to some nice tunes rather than obsessing over car noises.

    All-new Crossover Confirmed

Is this guy clueless too? He confirms from Mazda sources use of a Toyota hybrid power train as Kirk suggested (and your dismissed.) https://youtu.be/WSIXTLPTMHM If they offer a PHEV like the RAV4 Prime (speculation at this time), I’d consider that in a CX-50 rather than a CX-70, whose in-line...

    All-new Crossover Confirmed

Here’s Kirk Kreifels’ take on the CX-50. Spoiler- he teases it will likely have a RAV4 hybrid system! Color me re-interested in the CX-50.

P225/65R17 for Northern California weather and Short commutes

My OEM Toyo tires were down to 3-4/32nds when I replaced them at less than 24k miles. Few have reached over 30k. There is a thread on this topic if you care to look for it. IMHO Michelins are nice but overpriced. Many here are quite happy with Continental LX-25’s, including me. See several...

    Fan blower motor not working

I’ve noticed a ticking when my fan starts up, but it disappears after a few minutes. Volume is fine, but I just changed the cabin air filter, which got it back to normal. 16.5, original fan, 5 years old.
