Considering a 2018 CX-9 but concerned about 2.5T oil consumption

The 2021 2.5T engine - in multiple models - had oil burning issues that in most cases, were a quart of oil over 5000 miles. I had a 2018 CX-9, which burned no oil. I have had multiple non turbo 2.5 engines in multiple Mazda's and none of them burned oil. To my knowledge, only the 2021 model...

    Is the CX-60 a dud?

That has some crazy high torque figure as well. Amazing gas mileage by the way.

    Is the CX-60 a dud?

That review is from 19 hours ago. Not on an early version. That is what worries me.

    Is the CX-60 a dud?

Looking at this review: https://www.irishtimes.com/motors/review/2023/03/15/mazdas-cx-60-shows-all-thats-wrong-with-phevs/ The CX-60 comes off as an absolute dud. Is this a one off thing or have Mazda botched the vehicle? I hope the CX-70 and CX-90 are not like this.

Mazda CX-70 buying decision and timing

I agree with the CX-9 seats, as they are one thing I don't like about my CX-9. I personally loved the way the CX-50 drove. The steering is very heavy but direct.

    Mazda CX-90 First Drive Event

I saw other pictures and noticed that you can now control the second row HVAC from the front. Very nice!

Is that the turbo to the left in that picture? The shiny silver thing? Also, the engine looks like it sits far back into the car a bit. Thanks for posting.

    CX-50 Turbo octane?

I tend to agree with this, as there is clearly a slight difference with the higher octane fuels. But it is subtle, and nothing like the difference above 4K. You can feel it the best in 3rd.

Mazda CX-70 buying decision and timing

You know, I would love the PHEV but the reviews of the CX-60 PHEV are generally not very positive. Lots of negative comments such as "The CX-60 PHEV is the Japanese marque's attempt to go premium, but is let down by a chassis that makes if feel lumpen and leaden compared with other Mazdas." and...

Mazda CX-70 buying decision and timing

I hear you. They ride very differently. And in the case of the Nissan, even the Infinity versions still drive like a Nissan. The Acura MDX is much nicer. Personally, I love my CX-9. When my 2018 got totaled, I looked at the MDX, the Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7. All were nice but I found you got...

Mazda CX-70 buying decision and timing

The CX-9 is a great vehicle that as a two row with a large rear space, works really well. The inside is fine. There are some things that I wish it would have - like real time tire pressure measurement, better wireless charging location and the ability to control the second row temperature...

    CX-50 Turbo octane?

The HP and toque are similar below 4000 RPM on all fuels. With 93 octane, the HP and torque does not drop off. The issue is the transmission under most conditions shifts well below 4K. You have to drive in sport mode and with a heavy pedal to get the most out of it. Also, see this as it is is...

What are your expectations for the CX-70?

I would agree with this. I would like something that was slightly shorter than a CX-9 but longer than a CX60 - maybe something that is 190-192 inches long. The width should be similar to the CX-50, with the aggressive styling but upscale look and feel of the CX-60. I want the same engine...

    Mazda CX-5 comparison test drives

The CX-9 has a pretty quiet cabin, so that is surprising. I have had a 2018 and 2021 and on both, I started getting road noise as the tires wore out. But otherwise, when new or with fresh tires, pretty quiet. I would say that the 2018 was quieter than the 2021, which has more engine noise.

    2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S vs 2022 BMW X5 40i

My brother is a BMW guy, and has always been; but his $4-5,000 repair bills are just crazy. His last things that was considered "minor" was a $3,000 repair for the temperature gauge.
