Long Term Review - PowerStop Z17 Evolution Plus Ceramic Brake pads - 2nd Gen CX-9

Surprisingly they dont do a vented rotor on the rear if thats true, nor larger surface area/pads like the front. Curious what the bias actually is. I guess the load transfer is still going to be to the front, so thats where you need the bigger hardware.

Long Term Review - PowerStop Z17 Evolution Plus Ceramic Brake pads - 2nd Gen CX-9

I just installed Powerstop geomet coated rotors and evolution plus ceramic pads on my 18 Signature with 40k. The rears where just about gone, the fronts had probably 50% left. I did the brakes early for 3 reasons. 1. the rotors looked like hell, rusted beyond belief, and so did the calipers...

    JB4 Mazda 2.5T Development

Did we every get a clear answer on this applying to the CX9 (2016 and up)? I thought I remember seeing somewhere on this forum maybe, that the CX9 or certain years with the 2.5T are on a different architecture for engine management than newer applications of the 2.5T? Maybe I was dreaming

    Short Shifting (5000 rpm)

I double checked today, traction off makes no difference, and sport mode doesn't make a difference. Seems inconsistent as well, some times around 4700 up to 5200. Guess this only happens during the 1st to 2nd shift. Shifts from 2nd and above hit higher and 5500-5700. Maybe it's based on...

    Short Shifting (5000 rpm)

Just wanted to check with all, is ~ 5000 rpm the normal shift point in each gear when floored (short shifting)? I tried in sport and normal and its the same. Didnt try with traction control on or off, Ill double check that. And I know for manual mode you can shift whenever and bounce off the...

Anyone Here Get Their 2.5T Tuned Yet?

TheLion, thanks for the in depth information, its great education for everyone. I've been a long time K&N user, mainly for the fact that they are reusable, and since I, like you, are an engineer (mechanical) and auto enthusiast, I dont mind cleaning my K&N more often. I have had K&Ns in cars...

    2021 CX-9 Changes

Also, looking at that video on the carbon edition, it shows 2nd row captains without the center console? And cup holders on the bottom of the front console? Didnt know these where options, that would be ideal for my family, compared to the bench 2nd row on our 2018 Sig. A pass through would...

    Dealer/Shop 4 post lifting points

Thanks for checking on those oval holes. Exactly as you said, on my 05 Corvette when the C6 1st came out, had mine in for a recall, they lifted it and cracked the rocker at the front that wraps around underneath, and then on my wifes previous car to the CX-9, her Pontiac G8 GT, there is no spot...

Rear Sag, Roof Cargo Box, New Tire on Vacation Trip

Thanks sm1ke, thats about what mine looked liked loaded up. I shoulid add, this only occurred at high speeds, on the interstate, 60 mph + through the mountains of west virginia/virginia/NC, where there was smooth pavement but undulations and dips, and when there was uneven sections of road that...

Rear Sag, Roof Cargo Box, New Tire on Vacation Trip

So my family and I traveled on vacation from Ohio to the North Carolina Coast, 2 weeks ago, the 1st big trip in our 2018 CX-9 Signature, other than a shorter one to Michigan last year. The CX-9 did great overall. I averaged 23.5 mpg on the trip, which of course involves a lot of elevation...
