I wish I could turn off cylinder deactivation

Tell me about it. My nephew has I think a 2019 with CD and had to get warranty work done on it as something broke and put it in limp mode. I don't recall the details, but was related to the cylinders. If something happens to my 2014, not sure what I am going to do. I do not like the newer gens...

    Oil filter differences?

If I don't have an OEM, I usually go for a Wix 57002. It's at least specifically made for the Mazda and more closely matches the OEM specs, for example no anti-drainback valve.

This has been brewing for a couple years. I expect the driver side to still be a bit of a mess starting out, but I am hoping by 3rd gen Celestial or 4th gen Druid, that they have it down and are solidly competitive even above low to mid-range. Doubt we'll see that on 1st gen Alchemist and 2nd...

Smart. AMD will supposedly be using the chiplet design with their GPUs with RDNA3, so theoretically, should be much cheaper to make. Whether that translates to much lower cost relative to Nvidia's offerings, or a game of just undercutting their high prices with still high prices remains to be...

Thanks so much! What tier 40-series card is he looking at. I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia refrains from releasing anything below what they announced yesterday given they still have a year's worth of 30-series cards. Theory for me is that this is part of the reason for both branding and...

I recently did a review of some fans for a tech forum/site I am on. I also had a new flow meter/sensor for much more accurate flow and coolant temp data that I could feed as a data input into my fan profiles on my fan controller and fan curve. Anyway, beauty shot from that.

Damn. EVGA is exiting the graphics card business. Huge news as they are the biggest Nvidia partner in the US and probably the best in terms of warranty support, etc.

I'm not against buying a pre-built, not necessarily for me personally as I like building and watercooling. I just don't like prebuilt from the likes of Dell, HP, etc. because they usually look flashy, but inside is often a lack of cooling/airflow and sometimes proprietary boards and such or dumb...

    0w20 or 5w20

Right, but I am talking about the engine, we are talking about engine oil. If we have the exact same 2.0L or 2.5L NA Skyactiv engine and they call for 0w20 in the US and 5w30 in Finland (I don't know where, just pulling a country out of the hat), that should tell you that both oils are...

May I ask what you ended up getting it for? I know cards have been dropping in price but hadn't been keeping up. Well look at it this way. Bought top of the line, so now you can say no when he wants top of the line again in a year. ;)

    0w20 or 5w20

Source? I am not talking about Diesel engines.

    0w20 or 5w20

To my knowledge, 0w20 is just called for in North America. I believe all the other markets are 5w30. Basically, either is acceptable to use. Been using 5w30 in mine for a few years now.

Mazda Extended Confidence Warranty - Anyone Bought AFTER Vehicle Purchase?

Newer Mazdas give me pause, frankly I think they are ruining them. Meanwhile my 2014 is nearing 10 years old and 118k miles and have spent less to repair than an extended warranty would have cost. And 3rd party warranties sound like a terrible waste of money.
  16. ColoradoDriver

Mazdas are extremely reliable. Don't waste your money on an extended warranty

Over 117k miles on mine so far. In terms of "major" problems, I had an early model year defect with the gated shifter, was a $50 part and time and patience to fix, the drive belt tensioner failed, which did cost me a few hundred to have someone fix, and to @Kedis82ZE8 point, my lock actuators...

    Next Gen CX-5

Well sure, its their best selling model until it isn't. I don't think the CX-5 is going anywhere while it still is their best selling model, so your idea that there wouldn't be a CX-5 after 2023 seems highly unlikely to me.

Ugh...Tired of seeing the CX-5 everywhere

Yeah tell me about it. I bought mine in 2013, it was the second model year (2014) with the upgraded 2.5L engine. Literally no one around here had them. Nowadays? I see many of them every single time I go out to drive. I see two of them out in the parking lot right now! It feels a little...

Isn't the CX-5 their best selling vehicle? This makes no sense.

Black is not a color, it's a hobby

Mine has weird water etchings on it now. I really have to do some paint correction and then seal/wax and keep up with it.
