What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

I see it as OEMs finding a way to cut cost 🤷‍♂️. All premium cars have real-time tire pressure readings. But I agree, if all you care for or all that this avail to the user is a dummy light, the hub sensor is preferred (winter tires). But I like real-time TPMS and for those with an in-car...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

The new Mz3 TPMS system is a 'cheaper' dummy system. If it detects one wheel spinning slower (flat) than others, it triggers a fault. It is nice that you don't need a sensor in each wheel but it is a true dummy system. The Mz5 uses a TPMS sensor in each tire, which is MUCH preferred. For...

    Spongy brakes, bleeding doesn't work

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r46_unyYk8 There are a few past threads on this. All resolved with replacement ABS module. Been a while since I've seen the video and it seems Ford has issued a recall. Why hasn't Mazda?!?! Forzda 5 uses the same part.

    OE Strut Mount and Bearing

Whelp, this doesn't look right. Now I know where the phantom knocking sound was coming from!? It's been loose and knocking for a while but I didn't 'see' any issues with the strut mount and thought it was the FSB bushing. The rubber failed due to hard-knocking/damping from suspension impacts...

Curt versus Draw-tite Compare and Question

AFAIK, Auss and Europe use swan neck tow adapters. 'Merica prefers the manly 'exposed' hitch receiver - bigger is better. Where else would you hang nut sack ornaments? :devilish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNGhZ6rK4EM&t=139s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75w2JnbOBzc Does the OEM hitch...

    Loose brake pads 2010 Mazda5

Had the same issue with Hawk rear outer pad (only one side). The slight bit of undersized fitment caused it to move ever so slightly and gradually wore away 1/16" of the brake pad mounting ear. Made more noise as time progressed resulting in loud/heavy metal to metal knocking/banging every...

Curt versus Draw-tite Compare and Question

Not a CX-5 owner but I can sum it this way... Curt - last I checked, still an independent shop, made in the USA Horizon Global - owns Hidden Hitch, Draw-Tite, Reese, and a few others (notice they are all the same design with a different label), all made where it is most profitable, which is not...

Tips/Tricks to replace rear camber arm?

Going back to memory, there is a trick to removing (and reinstalling) that bolt without brute strength or removing stuff. The 'trick' is to pass the bolt through the control arm first (!there's slack !), grab the control arm then rotate, push, lift (insert appropriate verb) it to align the bolt...

    I did it again

Take solace in that the Mazda5 is not exactly a 'cool' car buuut she's still a teen and rules of biology still apply. If any Canadian '09-'10 GT 5pd looking to move to the East cost and want to off load your old car, hit me up!

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

I know the 2.5 changed to a single belt vs 2 belts on the 2.3 (serpt. belt goes through idler/tensioner but AC belt is also stretch fit). Can you confirm if the 2.5's crank pulley (harmonic balancer) has holes or slots? Did you come across anyone using the zip tie method on the 2.5L belt...

What's a good transmission oil to use for the Mazda5?

I bet you have a local Ford dealer nearby. Drop by Parts and ask for FNR5 ATF (same thing as M-V). If they ask, you own a Focus of the same year. https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/atf-recommendations-what-fluid-cooler-filter-share-your-experience-on-the-mz5.123824925/page-4#post-6341208

Mazda5 Oil Cooler replacement from Rock Auto?

Seal replacement can be hit or miss but failures are usually due to low quality part or user error. If you think about it, the new cooler comes with a new seal, which... you have to reinstall, same as just replacing the gasket... Curious, what brand of gasket did your friend use or did he use...

2012 Mazda5: Engine Revving When Brakes Applied

Description sounds like leaking brake booster (diaphragm or seal). You can test the brake booster by disconnecting the vacuum hose (check hose also) and plug/cap it off. Start car and apply/pump brakes to see if rev change. You should be able to find Youtube vids to guide you; it is a generic...

Mazda5 Oil Cooler replacement from Rock Auto?

Are you sure the cooler unit is damaged/leaking and not the gasket? I recently replaced the oil cooler gasket with a Fel-pro 72709 @ Amazon $12. Quality part. Note the gasket is different for +’12 models.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Good luck. RAV4 will serve your needs well. given your quest for lift, have you thought about the Mitsu Outlander (not the 5 seater Outlander Sport). Regular Outlander comes with standard 3rd row seats for 7, decent reliability (people underestimate Mitsu), cheap purchase (brand has no resale...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Ceramic tint, good investment and looks good. But the Mugen (exclusive Honda tuner) knob belong on Hondas only or at least cover the logo. You can replace the hard shift plate with the soft boot from the manual and really max it out.
