Here is a picture of the upgraded fork. I know there has been a lot of debate about what if anything has been changed etc. So since I knew i was going to have my tranny apart I figured I'd buy a set of forks and see if there was any difference. I've already seen the updated synchro rings and could not visually find any difference (was when doing a different diff install... we didn't have the rings off though... so could have been something we couldn't see). They may be stronger, but it's not apparent.

But.. there is a definite difference in the 1-2 fork. The other forks don't appear to have anything different when I compared them...

But here you guys go.. and chat away!

Later.

Steve

The one file named with numbers is huge, the other one much more manageable.. and all the blue crap is RedLine Lightweight shockproof... the reason it is on everything is because it is a shockproof oil, so it clings to everything as you can well see.

Other than the difference in that opening as to how the casting is routed there wasn't any other visible difference to the parts.

Ooooo. . .pretty blue. . .
Now you have to swap them. Fun fun.

Maybe we can do a side by side of the syncros then?

wasn't planning on swapping the forks.. just bought it "in case" and I don't have any of the synchros... which now looking back on it would have been smart... but oh well...

well I did change my mind and then tried to swap the forks... that didn't work.. turns out there is another difference... the shoulder where the steel rod passes through that guides the fork is actually much longer... about 5/8" longer. Because of that you can't line things up right to get the one roll pin back in that I removed from the shift system in the middle. It would have required even more disassembly and taking out a few extra pieces... decided since none of my dog teeth are chewed at all, and since I haven't had any grinding gear problems or the like that I'd leave it be and am now in the process of reassembling the tranny and checking that all the gear shifts work.
