here's my 1st gen I just picked up the other day
1981 RX-7
89,282 original miles
300 mile tranny, clutch, pressure plate, TOB
new exaust

i *think* the rest is stock

only thing it needs is a fuel pump....and she'll be on the road

gonna paint her too....prolly gunmetal gray....or something close

ya it needs some love......its been sitting for a few years now.......yesterday i cleaned it in and out.......

next is replace all the fluids and flush

then the fuel pump

I love my 85GS... Actually finally started the body work this week. Looks HORRIBLE RIGHT NOW!! Like some sort of mutant spotted cow.. hehe..

One bit of advice: Before you do ANY work, pull the rear storage bins, and check for RUST... Looking at the rest of the car, I'm cringing thinking about what you'll find....

well I got the car for $100.....someone needed it out of their yard



as for rust the underside is good so I dont see having any problems with the storage bins?

what are the storage bins? right behind the two seats? if thats what your talking about like the later RX-7's....mine have been removed and a speaker box is in its place.....underneath that it clean as it gets

I have a few local people that have offered their parts and labor to get this car to tip top shape

there was a RX-7 guru came to my garage sale saturday and saw my car in the garage.....told me he had a slew of body panels that i can have to put on my car.....also said he would help me get her runnin.............exitement!!!


i'll post pics of the motor when i get the chance......its clean!

well I just got home and check out the storage areas.....mine were removed and he made a custom speaker box that covers that whole area.......

underneath.....spotless!!!

this will be mostly a track car but I will drive it on the weekends when i wanna do some driftin

i did some more looking under the hood.....there used to be what looks like an intercooler on my car......possibly the setup from a new model.....or maybe one of those imitation intercooled CAI's.....I dunno.....i'll be riggin up an intake for myself

cars looks a littel rough, but nothing too major..

BTW, if you clean up & paint those wheels, they're worth some $$$..

at least if they're what I think they are... any better shots?

also the dealership i work at used to sell mazda's

one of the techs had a 1st gen rim laying round....he thought it was off the SE's
rim is in good shape....however i dont have 3 more prolly just sell that one off
