Hey, I've been trying to remove the stock Head Unit for a while now.

I removed the black trim around the head unit
I removed the glove box so I can get to the back
I put the butter knives on both sides of the head unit
I reach around to the back and push but I can't get it out

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Maybe I'm putting the knives in the wrong place? Anyone have any pictures of where to put the knives?

I don't even see where I could put the Kenwood removal tool if I had one.

Any help would be appreciated.

The kenwood removal tool is just a couple of keys...like the butter knives you describe. But they have a little piece of metal that juts out and that needs to get hooked on the HU to pull it out.

They should have been given to you at the dealer. They're in a little plastic bag taped to the remote control bag.

I got these two little tools which I'm assuming is the removal tools. I still don't know where to put them though. I looked for where it could fit and I don't see anywhere.

They go on each side, equaly far from the top and bottom. That will release the cage from the deck. However there is a small rubber stopper that holds in the radio. You will have to push like a Mofo to get it to come out.

I went and looked and I don't see anywhere it can go.

The head unit it totally separate from the plastic door thing right? That doesn't come out with it does it?

you are correct, the pocket is in no way attached to the radio.

Here's a picture I took of it. Can you take it into photoshop or something and circle where the key would go?
