Custom 8500 Hardwire Mount

Anybody have any ideas where I could mount one of the hardwire smartcords? I found this pic (below) on an rsx forum, so it looks like the smartcord box thing comes apart. I ordered a second gauge bezel trim thing, so I'm not afraid to cut into it. At first I was thinking of just putting the box in the middle top of it so I see it when I look at the goages, but now that I realize it can be mounted like the pic below, maybe I should mount it on the right side of the gauge bezel. I want to put this somewhere on that bezel and make it look clean.

Actually, the more I think about it I realize I couldn't mount it on the side of the bezel. I think it would look nice if I could make a custom mount for it at the top center of the bezel, so it is in good view and will be very noticable when the alert light blinks.

Here's a photoshop of what it would sorta look like. Anybody have any ideas about it? I guess I'd fiberglass it into the bezel (I actually just bought another one, so I dont mind doing anything permanent to the bezel). However, this will only be for the summer, so I guess to get any money for the smartcord I'd have to sell it with the bezel to someone with a protege.

I dont know if there would be an easier wa to make that mount than fiberglass.....also, would there be a nice way to mount it to the bottom center of it you think so I can still see the led's nicely when driving?

I did this with a dummy switch in my corrado. Had to swap the foglight and dummy switch and then cut a hole in the dummy switch to match the smartcord. Haven't done it yet in my P5 cause I haven't been able to find a suitable location. Only thought I had was when I do my stereo putting it in the spare din spot. Here are a few pics of the switch from the corrado though. Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions

I really like your install, however your isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I want to be very aware of when the led's are flashing on the smartcord directwire thing, so if I mounted it by the foglight switch, I doubt it would be obvious when it flashes. I think I'm actually going to cut a piece of the bezel out, and have the led box thing come out at a slant so the led's are at angle towards me. Should look nice and clean when I'm done, and he smartcord wont have to be permanently attatched to the bezel. I do like the idea of mounting it to the stock p5 radio's cover for the tape module.

not being mean but go back and read my post. I said I mounted near the fog switch in my VW CORRADO not my P5. I actually said I haven't found a suitable place to put it in my P5. Those pics are of the smartcord in the corrado dummy switch. Was just hoping it might give you some mounting ideas. But I guess thats what I get for trying to help......

Sorry, I wasn't trying to insult you or anything I forgot that it wasn't for the p5. I'm actually looking for one of the covers for the stock p5 radio cassette module so I can do something like yours in that spot....you did get my creativity going!
