Who's up for some painted headlights? Anyone wanna roll over and help me out :D I'm scared I will melt them. I'm not the best cook.. haha.

i have baked three sets of taillights, so i guess i can try headlights, but as with tails, i will not be responsible if they melt, or don't fit right. but since there is a how to, we should be good. btw, i need that wire.hehe

derrick: PM me your cell phone number.. i'll drop the cable to you tomorrow at your work.. also tell me the hours you are there..

i do not have a cell, but i will be at ross ridge from around 9 until 430-500 oclock

i'm out of town next week (vegas from sunday 4/25 - saturday 5/1) so maybe next sunday 5/2/04 are you guys available?

i was thinking about going to the one in Philly on 6/5 and 6/6 .. :D

just use a blow dryer instead of an oven/heat gun. takes a little longer but you don't have to worry about melting anything but the adhesive(which makes taking them apart easier).

to complete the install? maybe 2-3 hours, depending on how quick you work. getting the bumper/grill off is easy. the time consuming part should be the headlights.

Ive heard, and seen, otherwise...I witnessed two bumper removals which both took damn near an hour. (hand)

Also, I still can't decide If I want to do this or not. On the one hand it will be cool cuz its a cheap and easy way to differentiate the car from every other yellow P5 out there. On the other hand I like the all clear look. It seems as though the whol painting the headlight thing has just become "something to do" to the headlights...Many other ppl do this to get rid of some orange stuff in their lights but ours come clear(the way most people like it) fro the factory....ack, decisions, decisions. (nervous)

it didn't take long to remove my bro's civic's bumper. maybe the Protege has some tricky mounting locations. nothing a good skim through the body manual won't fix though. :)

i thought tony had the bumper off rather quick at the last protege meet.. it just took forever finding wiring, etc, to swap the MSP lip and the P5 fogs, etc. getting the bumper off actually looks pretty easy

(see the how-to by Ghost on painting headlights, it includes taking off the bumper: http://www.msprotege.com/vbb300/showthread.php?t=28954)
