I used glue

I've had my DaveB gauge rings for a while now and they kept popping out of the rings under bumpy conditions so I decided it was time for a better method than just pushing them back down.

After messing with some 3M tape and not being able to get them to sit right I threw on some "Goop" and it seems to be groovy now.

Just letting you guys know that glue isn't a bad way to go especailly if you have no intentions of taking them off.

Disclaimer: I don't know what Moose used, but do not use crazy glue, airplane cement or any kind of plastic to plastic glue like that. Basically any kind of glue that brilliant kiddies use as an inhalant is a bad idea for the rings because as it evaporates it will slightly melt the clear plastic that covers the gauges and end up fogging it a permanent white. Bad Ju Ju.

Yes, good point.
I definately made sure it was usable with the materials. You definately don't want a gigantic white guage without needles.

this is gonna bit off topic, but um did anyone here watch american pie2 where the guy "uses glue" at night when he's watching porn and gets his hand stuck and the police see him like that? (rofl) this topic really reminded me of that moment (lol2)

no need glue :) just shove it in and pray it doesnt pop out hehe but no crazy/super glue - chris

Perhaps use some RTV silicon adheisive, or some window sealer? It's silicon based, and will rub right off, but adheres nicely. Just an idea. =)

Well here's a suggestion. Glue it at night. let it cure overnight before putting it back together. Make sure the room's temp is above 70 degrees fahrenheit.

i used an aerosol can of spray adhesive on my rings.. can't see any side effects.. the rings look great!!

yeah under hard acceleration my rings fall flat onto the gauge cover plastic. I just assumed I'm too fast for the rings :D

i glued mine as well after after they fell off a few times... I thought they were a perfect fit.. then i hit some railroad bumps and they came loose.. I just use a small dab of siiclone in a few spots. Only my middle ring seemed to fall off.

they do like grat though.

Hey mspeedpro,
Does that b**** just sleep all day or what? (inside joke guys).

You suck with your stupid pumkin up in my grill. Word to your mother.....and such....

I shook the hell out of my gauges before I put them back together and the rings stayed on just fine. (dunno)

I shook mine a TON before installing them, but the large, center guage just kept coming off. Actually I was up on LI for a week when it feel off twice in that time. Bloody NY roads.

My right one didn't want to stay on so I used the 3M tape on it and they've been fine. Other ones could pry off if I wanted to once I popped them on. :D There's a little gap of black visible on the taped one which can bug me since I'm a perfectionist with these things but they look great anyway!
