2024 Mazda CX-5 GS Cracked plastic trim engine bay

Hi all,

I installed a new battery and accidentally put my elbow against this plastic trim when removing and installing said battery.

Now it's cracked 😭 and it looks like water may enter the engine compartment?

I need to get it fixed fast. Don't want to drive in rain or snow.

I guess it may not get warrantied 🥵

Thanks 🫥

Super glue? Why were you putting a new battery (which is warrantable within the first 12 months of ownership) in a MY24 car?

I dislike the Panasonic batteries they give me. It's not good for running accessories like dashcams and stuff.

Yeah I'm going to find a plastic bonding glue. Thanks 😤

I found this black plastic repair expoxy stuff at an auto store, don't remember if it was Autozone or Oreillys, but it was really good stuff made to repair black plastic body parts like bumpers, etc.

Look for dedicated auto plastic glue. There are some that are specifically for the type of plastic cars have.

Should be ok then. The one I used in the past was from Wurth and was pricey but it glued headlamps holders and bumpers and they are still ok after few years in hot and cold. Saved me thousands of $

Yeah I'm not sure what the cowl piece looked like originally but it looks like it might've had some ventilation or holes? Unsure 🤔 should be ok 😕

Or you can go to the parts department at your local Mazda dealership and they should help you in identifying the correct trim piece and a part number. It shouldn't be too expensive.
