CX-9 BSM Radar modules

Got a light rear-ender and left side BSM light is staying on. I assume the radar module is damaged. Is replacement a DIY option? Can you access it through the interior or does the bumper assembly have to be removed?

Not a DIY, you'd need to find out if your vehicle BSM is doppler or not, if doppler it needs a very expensive unit for aiming that only dealer can perform.
If left module got damaged can be replaced and align but if right module is damaged both sides needs replacement.
Not access from inside, bumper needs to come off. First, you should scan for DTC's it may or not be a bad module or it's shifted out of position.

Thanks- that's very helpful. It's the left module that's gone- looks like the replacement is around $560. I'll do a scan and see what codes pop up.

Yes.

No interior access. You can get to it from underneath, if your hands are small enough. Removing the bumper would be ideal.

It turns out that the BS audio warning is still working, but the two lights on the mirror are on continuously. Can they be reset?

They are flashing because there is a problem in the BSM system. A good scan tool will advise where the problem is.

On, flashing, doesn't matter. They are telling you there is a problem. A scan is required to diagnose.

you dont need anything special to replace a bsm module. its plug and play and no aiming or calibrating is neccessary.
