500+ hp MP3? (Yes, I'm serious)

My wife bought me a subscription to Super Street for christmas last year, thats why I get it. Although I HATE super street, she didn't know that so I just smiled and said thank you. Anyways, I got my new issue yesterday and there is an article int here about the new mazdaspeed protege. Then at the end of the article it says they know of a certain "racing MP3" that has 500hp. This is the first I have ever heard of this. Does anyone know about it at all? It also says something like its from the stock engine block.

I have a feeling that if there was a 500hp mp3 that there would at least be SOMEONE involved on one of these boards, but I haven't heard about it at all.

You could try emailing Super Street and seeing if they give you any information on this person. Maybe have them tell this person they "know" to come here .

They could be talking about the JIC Drag Protege. I got a chance to talk to a couple of guys from Corksport this weekend at the NHRA Import Races @ Infineon Raceway and one of them breifly mentions JIC. He said the last he heard about JIC was that they were running into problems with the block on their motor. He said, "once you get up to around 500+ hp, things in you block start to move around".

But.......since they said that it was on the stock block, it kind of makes me wonder who it could be. I do recall Super Street saying that they were going to do a feature on the JIC Protege though, so who knows.

Ummm...guys...we are talking about Super Street!?!?!? Since when have they become a credible magazine? The JIC drag proteg sounds like the most likely candidate...or maybe it could be someone within Mazda that is keeping things on the "down lo".

Interesting info APEXistud...whatever engine problems JIC has or will run into I'm sure we will for the landspeed project...I hope to get JIC involved somewhat...they have experience with pumping big turbo horses from that motor now.

What tranny are they using in the JIC proteg?

They are talkign about the JIC protege. The tranny is custom built with "secret" internals as JIC put it in an e-mail to me it is an awesome setup though for those of you who haven't seen it I've attached a pic
