Hey guys ,
Last week i got a used 2008 Black CX-9 GT .
Always liked the car , but wanted to get the US version , and not the Japan Version that gets imported here.
Thought it might be better and cheaper for me to maintain and get parts from the US , rather than going through the dealer for that .
We have 4 Mazda's right now
2002 Mazda 323 Black , Japan
2005 Mazda 6 Sport Black , Japan.
2010 Mazdaspeed 3 Red, US (only way to get it here , my brother bought it brand new in the US and imported it , dealer doesn't get them )
2008 Mazda CX-9 GT Black , US.
Now , i got the car with 80K miles on it , tested it , seemed all good , today i took off the air box to install K&N filter , and modify it to get better air to it.
And found a drop of oil coming from the hose , to the air box , it was sitting below the MAF sensor , looked inside , and found this....
It is dried out , so it has been sitting there for a while , and couldn't wipe it off either.
Any concerns i should be worried about ?! Why would this happen ?!

See my post with pictures.. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...the-intake-tube-ok-Or-do-I-have-a-PCV-problem

After I saw this, I started paying more attention to other cars. As an insurance adjuster, I look at many cars per week. So after looking at many vehicles oil breather tubes, it looks to me like most cars have the air cleaner attaching side at a higher elevation than the engine attaching side, so as not to let the oil into the intake tube. Unfortunately on the CX-9, there is not much height difference between either attaching side of the breather tube, and I think this is the reason some oil gets in there. But my conclusion is that it is not a problem. I discovered it around 55k, so I had less in there as I had less miles than you. Just wipe it off.

Thank you so much Helbigtw , for the fast reply , and clarification,
You just took a load off my back , i was getting worried about this ,
Will try cleaning it with something since it is dried on...

Has anyone looked at installing a catch can, that would solve the problem of blow-by.
