06-10 OEM Side Skirts

:
2008 Mazda MX-5 5MT PRHT
So I've noticed that sometimes when I see a first gen US Mazda5, I see some that look a little lower and I realize it's sideskirts/side sills. Forgive my ignorance in this regard as I'm no MZ5 expert but did certain models come with this like GT only models and does anyone here have a clue as to how much a set goes for or know anyone that has a set in maroon? I love the look but from what I've just quickly Google'd, I only see them going for anywhere in the ballpark of $130-$200 bucks for a set and those aren't even painted!

Anyhow, I love my MZ5 but two things need to happen, lowering springs and side skirts. Any help?

Side skirts came std on Touring and Grand Touring (GT in Can) models. They were part of an option package for certain years on the US Sport, and the package also usually incl the upgraded tailgate which has the spoiler (that is the only diff in tailgates AFAIK).
$200 is a pretty good deal for body parts, even unpainted.

Watch the junkyards. I got my side skirts for a little under $200 already painted from a 5 that was the same color as mine. I don't think you can just swap the spoilers though- they're part of the tailgate as far as I know. Look around on eBay for a Sport specific fitment.

I bought mine from dealer side sills and spoiler also. They came pre painted for this year. Spoiler was $135 and side sills were $175 for both. Only took 3 days. Install is scary though as you have to drill holes all down your car, but worth it. Patience is a virtue.:)

Wait, so you bought all parts from the dealer? So was Phunky mistaken and the spoiler isn't attached permanently?

I had to drill 4 holes and attaches with bolts and 3m tape. This was so easy to do because the holes drilled through the indents on inside of hatch. Comes with it all and directions.

Phunky is not wrong. The spoiler you were referring to is molded onto the rear hatch. That hatch door come standard on Touring and Grand Touring models. The non-spoiler type hatch comes only on Sport models. Sport models that came with the appearance package came from the factory that way. Mazda does or did offer an accessory rear hatch spoiler that comes pre painted to your factory color. It is solely for the Sport model that came with the non-spoiler hatch. There, hopefully that cleared things out.

Not entirely. The Touring (US model) has the spoiler built into the liftgate. The Sport (US model) does not have the spoiler built in. There is however an OEM option for a spoiler for the Sport model...but it looks like an afterthought IMO.

That's it? Psssh. I'll go pick up another set of perfect OEM side sills then. Screw the junkyard ones.

Not sure I like the "OEM Aftermarket" option nearly as much as the real deal one... :( Failure.

However, side skirts are a must.

that's cheap for factory option (too cheap to believe). Can you clarify if this was the cost for the options when you bought the car new or did u go back to the dealer afterwards and got them a this price? Who was the dealer (maybe I can use the to price match others.?.)? I would really love a pair of OE sills for $175 pre-painted!

I drive an 07 bought in 08 and didnt get side sills untill 2010. They apparently have them on a shelf somewhere collecting dust so I cant imagine them selling for list. You just need to talk to the right guy.
