ok so im gonna sound like a noob but f*ck it, so i got a MSP and while i was deployed, my dad had forged internals put into it, (funding by me of course, im not that lucky) so now that i fixed the "weak internals" problem, how do i crank up the boost??

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! YOU ARE ON FT. HOOD!!! Finally Im not the only MSP on the forum here on Hood, not only that, but a spicy. Do you have any way to tune your car? You don't want to up the boost without tuning first, especially after rebuilding the motor. If you have big plans for power, look into a standalone with the Haltech EMS if not, try looking for a split second air/fuel controller. What are your goals/plans for the car. We should meet up some time!! But, just get a manual or electronic boost controller. Normally on a stock motor, most would tell you not to go over 9-10 psi. But, I can't really give to much direction on a built motor. But, if you have a way to tune it, you can turn it up to whatever you want depending on what turbo you have. Stock turbo is good up to about 14-15 psi...of course this is with other supporting mods: intake, exhaust, FMIC What are your mods other than the motor? Our transmission are good up to mabye 300-350hp before you need to look into reinforcing the gearset. Any questions, just let me know.

That's crazy there are two spicys on base and they didn't even know eachother, not that Ft. Hood is small or anything. I saw a spicy yesterday and almost wrecked turning my head back to look at it.

i dont think his car is in fort hood. i think he is stationed there and his car is with his family (atleast he said his dad forged the motor) maybe it is with him now. idk lol

MBC, manual boost controller is the easiest way
on stock trans, i would stick with 12-14psi, its really up to you though, i had mine at 12psi and s*** hauled ass...
i recommend the turbosmart boost tee, great piece
and not sure if you have an aftermarket clutch or not, but you might need one..

at 12 psi the whp output is prob around 250-ish and the stock clutch may start slipping...not sure what msp clutches are rated too

i would not recommend a mbc because they are known to spike. he obviously has alittle bit of cash so dont cheap out. get an electronic boost controler and call it a day. i run the greddy and its an awesome unit.

you really think 12 psi is pushin ~250whp? not bashin im actually curious cuz i was tellin people 240 crank and i thought i was exaggerating a bit

if hes just cranking it up to joyride until he figures out his master plan, a MBC is fine. hes forged - a boost spike means a shitload less to him than someone with a stock block.

i wouldnt go above 12psi on the stock turbo for 1000 reasons. even forged, you could run into timing problems exacerbated by the restrictive exhaust and the turbo blowing tons of extra heat.
figure out what you want to do long term, but feel free to get a cheapo MBC and run like 11lb in the meantime. fuel/timing control, a turbo designed to power more than a dirt bike, an intercooler that isnt a pile of s***, and an exhaust larger than a N/A civic will make a lot of difference... at that point, the car will ******* fly.

if you have full bolt-ons (FULL bolt ons) its probably close to 250 whp. for what most people run, 240 at the crank is probably closer.

well i dont have stock anything lol
that was just based off of a comparison to justinlandsdales dyno where he made 215whp or something around there at 10 psi with minor bolt ons
i have a a decent amount of work done compared to him, so i would say def more around 230-240whp...

never had any spiking with mine ??

but if you want to go big boy boost controller, check out the turbosmart e boost...s*** is nuts
you can control how much boost in each gear and adjust it separately (ie: 5psi 1st gear, 10psi 2nd and so on), its also a boost gauge...but its around 500 bucks

AVC-R also provides boost by gear and boost by RPM if i recall. i was planning to boost by MAP target with megasquirt II or run the profec b spec II

boost spikes alreant good with any motor dude. seeing higher boost levels when they alreant tuned for it ur just asking for detonation. so just CRANKING up the boost is not an option until the op clarifies he is using some sort of ems or standalone. ur really starting to spread some bad information, i dont see where its ok to just throw an mbc in and crank up the boost and risk the forged internals and block inside.

people have run (and tuned for) 14-15psi, stock turbo, without timing control on forged motors. if hes running 11 and spikes to 14 its not the end of the world. he spent 4 grand on his motor for a reason.
im not telling him to run 19 psi and spike to 22. im telling him to run 11, which plenty of people around here do even on the stock motor without timing control.

what do you consider full bolt ons? TBE, intake, turbo mani. anything else?
and you really think 12 psi on the stocker can cause timing issues? cuz original owner of my car, the guy before aram had it at 16psi and ran like 278whp, but again he had the aem, and aram had it from 10-14 i believe with ssafc

yeah, aram ran 10-14psi with the SSAFC after NUMEROUS attempts to use emanage. much to everyones enjoyment.

full bolt-ons would include a good turbo mani, an intake mani, intake, FMIC, full exhaust w/downpipe, wicked tune with timing (you might need injectors at that point), good boost control, a clutch that could hold the power, cams help, upgraded turbo helps too...
and though they dont count, a welded diff, motor mounts, PCV, etc.

im sure im missing a few things...

Nice to see some MSP owners in the military, and in the Army no less. I knew there were some but didn't know how many, like SpicedMSP.....its easy to tell you are on a miitary base just by your avatar.....lol. The fact that you guys are on the same base is cool, but Ft. Hood is a City and is absolutely huge so it is very possible to never actually see each other.

Anywho.......the weak point now is tuning and transmission, so get the tuning right and pray that your tranny holds up. I am currently saving to forge my motor, as I am deployed right now as well. Good luck to you.

EDIT: Pix or GTFO :-)

yeah i forgot a bunch of things lol, i have most of them, except stock DP, and only ssafc. im keeping the 450ccs just getting them cleaned, dont have intake mani, but i might pull mine and check out the vtcs removal or vics idfk which one is which. i was thinking thunder mani, any good? i dont like the way the steed speed looks, and i dont feel like it has much for performance, looks like its mostly just to be a stable bullet proof mani. good to know that 250whp is relatively easily attainable with what i have so far. its kinda crazy how the original owner of my car ran 16 psi, and got 270WHP though and everyone talks about how the turbo looses all its efficiency at 12-14.

yeah, Ft. Hood is freaking huge and here is the kicker, HE LIVES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD ON FT. HOOD!!! and has pics to prove it. He has pics of his car behind mine in front of my house. I was probably sleep or something.

he's here, I PMed him my number and chatted for a min. He has a pretty nice mod list. I still shocked, he lives in my neighberhood and I have never seen him.

lmao at the avatar thing, yeah it's easy to tell. Especially with the guys that I work around every day working on Apaches. There are some unique personalities around here..lol and yeah this place is huge. There are a few MSPs here but none into hanging out or modding. There is even another spicy here but a female drives it and probably doesn't even know the rarity of it. I honk my horn sometimes when I see her but she never pays any attention..lol Anyway, he gave me a rundown of his mod list which is impressive. But Ill let him tell you guys when he chimes in again. He's in a club around here called Boosted and some of the members I see on a daily basis tearing the streets up. But from the chat I had with him, he does have some sort of fuel control. I don't know if it's split second or not. He also has giggle juice ;~)

i dig most of it accept for the ebay cf grill and roof scoop. the spoiler to me is a bit much but to each his own. we should have a meet sometime between here and there. how far is fort hood from dfw? i would really like to meet some of yall face to face, i thought more woulda shown up at the big texas mazda meet but the turnout wasnt that huge for msp's and most the poeple there were locals. the group i came with were the furthest travelrs there.

I think we are about an hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic. Yeah, we should definitely meet up sometime. As long as I have been here, I haven't been to any DFW meets. When is the next big Mazda meet?
