Probe Header on P5 Questions

I did a search on this and didn't find too much, so I wanted to post up and hear some opinions. I'm thinking about the Probe 4-2-1 header (pictured below) for the P5. I know the EGR doesn't bolt up...I'm probably going to fix that with either the flexible gas line EGR replacement or maybe use a Probe EGR tube, or just block off the EGR completely.

I also realize that I would need a custom midpipe, which is not an issue. I'm planning on buying a magnaflow high-flow cat and taking it to an exhaust shop to have them fab up a midpipe...I want to stay catted to avoid a bad rasp.

My questions all pretty much relate to fitment-
- The "2" section of the header is what will be next to my oil pan, and I am concerned about clearance. Will it rub? My current header is not rubbing, but one of the bolts connecting it to the midpipe is. The Probe oil pan looks identical to the P5s, so if it should clear a Probe, it should clear mine (right?).
- Are the exhaust hangers placed correctly (or close?) I can bend them some, but I don't want to have to have another set welded on if I can avoid it.
- Any other advice or comments from people who have done this?

I think itll be alright, just need the custom midpipe. Post up some pics when you are done. I would also recommend keeping the EGR. Use the flex gas line.

Another member on here had that header and when I went to install it for him, the hangers did not match up. I took it to a shop to get rewelded. I don't know if the one you're getting is a different design but just a heads up.

Is it worth all the effort? Sell it and buy the proper header ready-to-install. (my $.02)

Its actually not much effort. It would cost the same as getting a regular header with a custom mid pipe. Probably get more HP out of the long tube headers.

I think it is worth it...I have a "proper" Tsudo 4-1 now.

HP gains won't be great, but it should shift my power band a little lower, and with all my mods, that will add a little more pep.

I've wanted to install a flex and catted midpipe for a while...the header comes with a flex section, and it only costs around $100. Plus a cat and a custom midpipe, I'm looking at about the same cost as buying a SLS catted midpipe with a flex section. And out of that I get a little more HP lower in the powerband and the exhaust setup I wanted...and almost no one else has it.

Seems like a fun project to me!

I say do it. Long tube, ftw. I would be interested in doing this @ some point too. Shouldn't be that hard. Corrugated EGR line is easy. Just a matter of getting new exhaust hangers welded on & getting a mid-pipe fabbed up.

Do you remember who that was?

yea it was antonio. rgn assn or something is his username i think. he had his jet hot coated red. it looks great. oh and almost all the header designs for the pros are the same and shityy. very few are well done and they are expensive. the mx6 / probe header has been a good alternative to ppl for a while now. i say go for it. youll be happy you did
