OpenGL is the coolest! (look at my homework!)

Well for my homework we had to build a castle in openGL, using different things (which is why some things are weird). we did this last week, but this week we added more stuff and played with lighting. let me just say that openGL is awesome! even though i'm just learning it, the things it can do are wicked cool. next on the menu is being able to fly around the castle by pressing different keys. this is probably my favoritest homework ever!

well there's 1 red light, 1 green and 1 blue, so from different views it looks different colors
after taking an assembly language class, i hate anything having to do with hardware development

Awesome. Yeah, OpenGL is quite awesome. This thread reminds me of my favorite class back when I was in college a couple of years ago - CS 559:Computer Graphics! .

I was working on a OpenGL port for PocketPC to do a 3D game, but supposedly Microsoft will be releasing a free Direct3D software renderer for PocketPCs and a group is doing an open source OpenGL library as well. Maybe I should get back to work since its cold out again!

edit - fixed links on my page if you care to download... I got rid of the source because the project specs are still used by the class I think, so no free source for students

my class is cs4731-Computer Graphics. i just wish i wasn't taking operating systems at the same time so i could spend more time doing graphics stuff. in january i start cs4732- Computer Animation, so that should be a good time

haha, i needed to include a few shapes that were in .3vn files in the picture (the wine glasses, the buckyballs, the octahedron, and the barn), and i didn't want to mess with my views a lot so i just made the barn small

Thanks! Keep up the good work yourself! Yeah, it was amazing what a couple of long nights and some cold beers did. It was also nice being roommates with my partner for my project 3, as well as another guy in the class. That was such a fun class.

I have no idea what it is you guys do/did to do that stuff, but its pretty damn cool, whatever it is. I think I'm dizzy from following the "train view" on DooMer's project 2 (thumb)
