As some of you know, my MS3 was keyed. Just got it back and gave it quick wash. I have a few swirles to work out of it, but the shop did great matching the texture and even did well with color match since they stayed within the panels (i.e. no blend to the qtr). Threw in a pic of the old SVT just becasue (sssh)

looks good! I knew I should have bought those wheels...

Some lady backed into my car a week ago with her jumanji vehicle (some old land rover) and tore up my r/h bumper, fender, hid, etc. I'm hoping they will blend the paint right so it looks like looks perfect; like yours (I hear silver is hard to match) Will find out in 2 weeks haha... :(

wait so they painted over the scratch?
if they did, thats kinda overboard but dam they must be a good shop lol

The repaired the scratch, the scratch was through the clear, through the paint and into the actual door, so they sanded, filled, primed and painted. They are an excellent shop, I've used them in the past and plan on continuing to use them if the occasion arrises that I need to.

did they re-clear both your doors? I'm getting estimates done on getting a scratch repaired on my rear bumper (corner) and some shops are saying they need to re-clear the ENTire bumper ($6-700) and some shops said they would just sand, fill, primer, paint, and clear just that corner ($250-300).

your entire bumper needs to be cleared if you want it done properly, it's easy to partial just the color, but the cover needs to removed/repaired/partialed with color/and full refinish. It can be done without clearing the entire cover but i think you'll be sorry down the road. Good luck.

His doors werent sanded down. just the scratch mark. the area was then touched up, sanded, compounded, and polished.

I understand that. I just wanted to know if he had to get his ENTIre door re-cleared instead of just the key'd areas cause I'm in a similar dilemma with my rear bumper.

Yes, the entire doors were clear. Luckily my scratch left enough area to the front of the front door and the rear of the rear door that they were able to refinish within the panels. They took all the mouldings and hardware off my door, repaired the scratches, painted it keeping the color within the panel then completely cleared it. No need to blend to the fender or quarter panel, however anytime a panel is painted, the entire panel needs to be cleared, regarless the amount of the panel that actually has color blown on it.
------
To properly repair a bumper, it needs to be removed from the car, repaired (saneded, filled, primed), painted (partially if damage is contained within small area) but completely cleared. Also, the bumper needs to be overhauled as well, which just means any trim peices need to be removed so it can be cleared properly, if not, it'll peel over time. Once it's cleared, it should be wetsanded, then buffed. To be completely honest, with body work, you get what you pay for. There arn't many ways to cut corners and still have great quality work.
