Hey everybody, i used the search, but no luck. anyways i know alot of people buy aftermart wheels in 17's or 18's, but since i just baught new tires for my stock 16's, im going to buy new 16" wheels to put them on after the winter. anyways i know with a 17 or bigger you have to have a 42+ offset for them not to rub, but with a 16" wheel how much of a offset do i need???

Its not the height of the wheel, it is width. That is the variable in question. What is the width of the wheel you want? Tire Rack explains everything in great detail if needed, as well as guarantees all fitments they show.
It really all depends on the sidewall size. What dimensions are you running in terms of tires?
I'm gonna be running 20mm spacers next summer on the stock rims with a 205/45ZR16 tire, which will put me at a +40 offset. My fenders are rolled though... I'm assuming without rolled fenders I'd rub in the hard turns.
A buddy of mine is slammed on 17'' rims and +42 offset and he was rubbing before he rolled his fenders. So whatever the diameter of a 205/40ZR17 tire is will rub with a 1.5'' drop.

Offset is a function relative to the width of the wheel. Once again, the wheel width is the variable here that needs to be known.

nah, i'm lowered and running 205/40/17 in the summer and it's a +40 offset (iirc) and the only time I rub is with 4 heads or a load of cargo (see pics for PHAT stance with the car loaded with stuff)
as for 16s, i'm running 205/50/16s for the winter, and I have no rubbing whatsoever. i like to 205s, lots of grip.

WedsSport SA-90 tirerack has them. i like them, but now idk if i want them because i dont wanna spend alot. i really want the sportmax 039's in black but i can only find a 40 offset and im not sure if that would fit with my 205/50/16 tires. im not buying wheels until after winter, but i always like to look and look and look and change my mind 100 times. all i know is i gotta have aftermarket wheels to go with my R/C (gemini) carbon fibre hood.

Spacers kill. They do. Whatever you've been told, is likely from a guy who's trying to sell you a wheel that wouldn't otherwise fit your car.
Finally the offset of a wheel fit for your car and how that wheel will bolt up to your car is very much a function of the width of the wheel. A wheel that is 5" wide, and a wheel that is 7" wide will have quite a bit different offset if they are to fit the same car correctly.
