Aftermarket wheels probably have the greatest impact in terms of your car's appearance. It's one of the first indicators of personalization.
I don't really get the current trend in dark-color rims, particularly flat black, in which case you can't really tell where the rim stops and the tire begins. They remind me of winter steelies. Low profile tires look cool--why not show them off, at least with a polished lip?
Hyper black, gunmetal, titanium, etc. also tend to subdue wheel design, although in a few cases they do look subtle and classy.
Remember the Euro look--white car, white rims, tinted windows? That style is pretty much dead these days, although it's still a sweet treatment for a P5, IMO. Euro-look Proteges, post your pics here--I'd love to see them.
