Simota SRI FULL System (AutoExe Replica)

I have been in contact with Simota, a Taiwan based company, ( http://www.simota.com/intro.php ) about building a cheaper alternative to AutoExe's intake system. They seam very eager to undetake this project because they already have products out for the Mazda6i and several other Mazdas. I expressed my concern that it needs to have a turbo inlet pipe included and they are willing to accomodate that as well. There is a picture of AutoExe's Unit attached.

It's not definite what material will be used for the airbox yet but I told them it would probably be better to make a non Carbon Fiber airbox in order to cut down on costs and get more people interested. That was left up in the air because they said they usually make both versions anyway when making airboxes.

There are a few pics of Simota's work on the Mazda6i (4cyl) attached.

The intake system will include an airbox and airfilter, PLUS it replaces all factory intake piping including the restrictive turbo inlet pipe. It should cost around $300-400 which is a heck of a deal considering AutoExe's piece is around $800. Also, no other company besides ATP makes an inlet pipe and that piece alone is $300.

Just to inform the uniformed, when you buy just a CAI or a SRI, you still have the extremely restrictive turbo inlet pipe in place. It bottles necks to some parts that are no more than 2" wide. There are some pictures of the stock turbo inlet attached.

So this thread is here to get an interest liste going and hopefully we can get around 10-15 members signed up so we can get this thing moving.

I saw your post over on the other forums and it seems like you've got lots of interest ... count me in!

damn if they could do all that i'd be down, better than using the cai i have as tons of a less chance it will suck up water on me!

I am interested as well.

They could also use the system for other Mazda 6 models/engines as well with minimal changes to the piping, routing, etc. This could be used to influence their decision as well.
