My CX-7 is the 10th Mazda I've owned. One of the easiest things I've ever done to increase the feel and interior appeal of each of them was to change the shift knob. I know a shift knob doesn't seem like much of a change, but the height and feel of the new one gives the CX-7 a sportier feel to me. Maybe it reminds me of my five Miatas or my RX-8... I don't know, I just like it.
The guys over at RSpeed, here in Atlanta, carry Sola shift knobs with Delrin inserts that reduce vibration and fit great. I couldn't resist! It lowered the knob to a place that feels more natural to me and makes me feel more at home in a non-sportscar!
Sorry for the low quality of the pics, they were taken with my Samsung BlackJack which only has a 1.3MP camera. The knob looks great and matches the bezel around the shift gate.
