hood photoshop help!

Yeah Phil, my vote says this is on the right track. That looks less like the new GTI, which was my first thought when I saw the black option. I wasn't really diggin' it.

wow IM TOTALLY diggin that! do it bro. only keep up the "stripe" and carry it over the roof and the trunk. if you do black it will look lik eyou were too poor to buy carbon fiber. if you do gunmetal to match the rims it will look p-i-m-p

yeah, i have definately thought about doing the stripe over the top of the car, but i dont want it over done......nate, more photoshopping? haha

and I will leave the emblem as it is. kinda accentuates the machined lip

I know how you feel. Then blacked out hood is a MAM tradition, or soit seems.

I was trying to decide on something different. I ended up repainting the entire car. Used a high quality paint mixed it to factory color then added blue pearl. For the black I did a custom mix with a blue mica in it.

I painted the flat part of the bumper under the grill, the grill, the center of the hood, the center of the roof and the center of the wing leaving the sides blue.

Then I painted my rims and added a stripe down the side also in this black with blue mica. Had zoom-zoom painted on my rear doors in blue inside the black stripe.

OK so my point is do what you want. I gave you my car as an example.

It will look good with the blacked out hood. There was a 3 hatch in AZ for a while that did that & it looked pretty good.

I can do it if you want - my only question is, if you paint the roof, where do you stop? do you also paint the decklid of your trunk? then do you continue down to the bumper? do you paint the bumper? I think at some point it would just look dumb

I think you have one of the nicest looking 3s I have seen, Very clean and love the wheels. Pretty much the only one that makes me wish I had bought the sedan instead of the hatch...almost. So did ya go through with it?

I hope in the end you decided against it, Phil. Your car looks GREAT just as it is. From reading the other posts here I am not alone in this thinking.
This looks "DONE" and not very exciting to my eyes.
In the long run, I think you'd be sorry.
