My ebay grille fiasco

The missus broke down and bought me something for the car. She is so sweet. Anyways, we went the inexpesnive route and bought an autoexe replica grille off ebay from 1ststuff4u (100% feedback) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8030889901&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Anyways, when I recieved the grille it did not have mounting holes drilled. No issue I can do that. Well I never test fitted it before leaving feedback. So I gave him positive. I had to do a TAD of Bodywork, which seemed to be caused from shipping, not sellers fault at all, it was well packed, UPS probably scratched it. No issue I ahve done this before. So with 2 weeks of meticulous bodying, primer, multiple layers of paint, wet sand, paint wet sand, clear coat, wet sand, today was the day to install.

IT WOULD NOT FIT. I had to cut down the tabs to get it to fit in the stock bumper. No issue, it was made from a mold and I got a dremel and can clean it up once I got it trimmed down. Well got it down, and installed, the top portion is warped and does not seat right. The Fiberglass is cracking because of this, and the D/S tab looks like it will break off any moment. Pics below explain it all.

Now, I can rectify this on my own with cutting the top off, and refiberglassing it all on my spare bumper to fit. It will also allow me to do something custom that I have had in my head for a while. Besides that, I have contacted the seller, and if he does not replay within the next 2 days, I will file a complaint with EBAY and PAYPAL.

Guess we do get what we pay for.

Wow! that looks severly warped. It seems like that would be something obvious looking, even when off of the car. You should not have to go through all of that work to make it fit. It shoudl be a "BOLT-ON." That some BS. I hope the seller will clear it up, but I highly doubt it!

That looks horrible. It seems like alot more work then you should have to do especially when buying from someone with 100% feedback. I doubt that you'll get anything back due to you already working on the piece, but it's worth a shot. Godd luck.

Well, I can hopefully get my money back at least from paypal. I cant see why not, the usually favor the buyers in situations like this. BTW, anyone got pics similar to mine of a properly fitting grille ? I think that would help my case out if need be.

If push comes to shove, I will just do my custom grille. I like the way that some grilles on the EVO's have a vent in them to feed air to the car.

Yeah, I have one of those cheapy type, 3 or 6 looking grill from hong kong too but doesn't have any warpage issues like that. I haven't painted it or got the emblem to put on it but have test fit it. Not nearly like yours is, but still same type finishing tasks like drilling the mounting holes on top & dialing in the fit.

HOLY COW THAT LOOKS LIKE HELL !!!! Doesn't look like it fits even decent anywhere. Man, I'd be pissed. Looks like you got it for a good price of $31 but, I'd be pissed with the $40 to ship it. It for sure isn't worth $71...........

Here is what I wrote to the guy.

I purchased this product with the notion that it would fit perfectly. Well, the fitment is horrible, the fiberglass is warped, and I had to rework most of the bodywork on it because of major blemishes. I wish I could leave proper feedback now that I have tried to fit this. I would greatly appriciate a replacement or a refund. I will forward pictures of this horrible product once you provide me with a valid email adress. If you fail to rectify this issue,I will contact EBAY and any potential buyers of your poor quality products.

Hey boostisgood, I bought one from him recieved it on the 15th. I have a porblem with my tab, cause it looks like it's going to crack. i e-mailed him and he responded back in a manerlly time. Good luck with your it getting fixed. I ahven't test fitted mine yet i ahve to drill holes still...so i'll keep you updated too.

Paypal will favor who is right....in this case you. I sold a computer server to a guy for over $600 and he emailed me telling me it was DOA and the whole scene. 7 Months later I won that case.....

Email Paypal with pictures and tell them a brief story of what happened. Be known it is also "illegal" for false shipping prices on items. Such as if he charged you $40 and it cost him $15.....that is also in your favor.

Seeing the total cost is under $100 it shouldnt take more than a couple days to maybe a week to resolve. You'll win... (thumb)

damn sorry to hear man! hell, do what i did...go to home depot buy some gutter gaurd, cut it to fit (trace the stck grill) powder coat it and.....there ya go total cost powder coating and gutter gaurd....$13 (thumb)

mhm.the pic shows an "exclusive" bumper (jdm/edm) and from my own experiences with the front conversion i know that the stock grille from that bumper won't fit the p5 bumper and 99% not the us-sedan bumper...
