MSp shifter is too short

not sure about the TWM, but the B&M has a "solid bushing" on the pivot ball... yeah, it's pressed in, and it's made out of bronzoil... so it's permanently lubricated and it's very direct because of that! so yeah, the shifter DOES vibrate a lot at high rpm, but who cares

combine the B&M shifter with the JDM mazdaspeed leather shift knob and you have an AWESOME setup.... yes, it's weighted, and it looks like the stock RX-7 one... but the added weight dampens the shifter vibrations better, plus acts as a good counter weight to balance out the shifter.... shift feels are improved and shifting action has been MUCH smoother after installing it

hmmm... i really like the stock knob, but your statement intrigues me... are there any knobs real similar to the stock 03 that are heavy, or any way to add weight to the stock knob??
I don't know of any vertical ones that are heavy... The only weighted one I know of is the ball-grip Greddy Counter-weight. I wonder if any other knobs are weighted, like the Kartboy.

Go to www.twmperformance.com and look around ... there's a setup specifically for the Speed with different packages - short shift lever, add bushings, add shift knob, add leather shift boot. I went with the lever and poly bushings - it ran ~140 + shipping. Lever = good. Bushings = undecided. Not sure what I think of it yet... depends on how rigid you like the shifter to feel.

I don't know of one the size of the stock MSP knob AND heavier; the stock one is pretty slim and unless someone used lead, I don't know how they'd make something that slim effectively "weighted." I have the Razo GT Advance shift knob shown on page 2:

Don't know if that helps you, but I tried out a friend of mine's who had a weighted shift knob a few years ago, and I was sold on the first shift. BIG difference imo.

This is the size I was thinking about.
If I understand correctly the B&M is taller and vibrates, the Kartboy is even shorter, and the TWM is about the same height.

Thanks for the input guys.

hmm... its not quite like the stock one, but the knob right above the one you have comes in a 400g version, and its more along the same style. maybe i'll be getting one of those some day.... gotta get money first!! lol

bah, nothing beats this

and no, it won't fit the stock shifter as it is longer... it fits the B&M perfectly only if you remove that clip that holds the boot up and slide it all the way down to where the shifter gets fatter
