the real question is will it last more than 350 miles before it cracks in 8 different places, and how much custom fabbed intercooler piping is going to cost you.

why is the wastegate located there? Doesnt' make sense to me for good airflow through the wastegate, won't it create different backpressure into cyl 2 than the others & upset smooth exhaust flow? Not to mention that it's not an equal length header - if I was going to go tubular it sure as hell would be equal length. I'm not a fan of that manifold at all.

Does anyone know of anyone else besides MAM and OBX that make a header that will fit the Protege/Protege5? I thought about getting the guy that owns LoveFab (lovafab.com) to build one for my Protege5 when I get ready to do my turbo. He does some bad ass work.

Agreed... that collector area looks like s***. The last thing you want at the collector of your turbo mani is turbulence, and that design looks like it will create plenty of it. I would venture to say that even a straight log or Hiboost's partial log are going to perform a hell of a lot better than that thing.

Sleeper mani for 695, or thumper mani for 795 can't be beat right now though... by far the best collector design available for us. (first)

We have a few used manifolds that are for sale.

SS Log manifold(old version of Sleeper kit)$100 uses a T2
BEGI cast iron manifold $125 uses a T3

If you are looking for something more efficent our Tubular manifolds are on sale.

do you have a link to these used manifold? with pics?

with a bracket to remove the majority of the weight from the mani, a flew pipe in your exhaust and solid MMs it should be fine. Anything is better than the stock mani, but I dont think there would be many gains with that setup, its poorly thought out, but regardless of design I bet it causes less backpressure than the stock manifold. Id save for something nicer.

im still confused though....how is a manifold made for the 1.8 (thats what it was originally advertised for and it DOES have round exhaust ports, dont the 2.0 have oval) work on the 2.0 (again, oval holes)?

well there is no link to the auction so how do we know what to look for? all we can see is the overall design of the mani from that pic.

you might wanna take a look at that

hmm no link. okkaay. go to ebay and search protege manifold. it will be the first result. im not seriously considering buying this i just want to know how they can have a manifold that is made for a 1.8 and say it works on the 2.0. it just comes down to....can the 1.8 round exhaust ports mate with 2.0 oval ones?

It might be for the 1.8 BP motor
