i have both of these, because i didnt realize one came with the processor itself straight from intel.

this is going to be used for a p4 prescott which is known for its heat.

the smaller one actually has about the same sized fan as the intel one. however, the intel one has a slightly bigger heatsink in overall area, while the other one is all copper (as opposed to the intel one, which just a small portion of the underside is copper). in the pictures the intel one looks to dwarf the other, but most of the intel one is plastic, it is only slightly larger heatsink.

the intel one didnt come with specs but the copper one says it pushes 27.9CFM at 3500rpm with <34dba of noise...

which would you choose?

use whatever keeps it the coolest.

just test both, see which one keeps it cooler, thats all that matters.

if those dont keep it at the temps it should be, hit up newegg.com and find a suitible heatsink fan combo.

use stock. there is no reason to do other wise unless you are overclocking or want to show it off. stock hsf are designed to keep the cpu cool in all types of loads under regular specs. plus since you got the retail kit (3 yr warranty), intel wont honor any warranty if the cpu is not used with supplied hsf.
